Sal awoke by a bright blinding light outside her bedroom window. She rubbed her eyes and walked to her window. The light moved up, almost like it jumped in surprise.
Sal cocked an eyebrow and tapped the glass. The light moved again and moved closer to her. She shivered, she felt a strange presence. She shrugged it off and tapped the glass again. The light made a high pitched noises which sounded sort of like the tap she made. She giggled "Can you say 'ello?"
The light made another noise similar to "hello"
Sal smiles and ran to her parents room to tell them about the magic floating ball of bright light who was talking to her. As she ran into the hallway a large man grabbed her from behind and held a rag to her mouth. She gasped for air and her vision blackened. She passed out and woke up god knows how long later. She woke up in a forest at what looked to her like dawn. She got up and brushed herself off. The light was there, but since it was morning, you could outline its few features. It looked to her like a firefly but... Lighter? Yeah a lighterfly. Sure.
Sal reached out to touch it, it rubbed against her hand, it was warm and fuzzy. She smiles but it soon faded away. Where was she? Where were her parents? What was going on?
You need to follow me. I'm here to help you, anikokid.
"Huh?! Who said that?!" She whirled around.
Its me, mist, the glowing bright ball of light. I'm communicating to you telepathically, anikokid
"oh, my name isn't anikokid. Its Sal"
I know, anikokid is your title, like a princess but more sacred.
"Oh ok. Why you calling me that?"
Because you are an anikokid. There are only few of you left, you need to fulfill your mission with them. You must find them Sal
"How?"
Follow me and do as I say, we are in a very dangerous place.
Sal nodded and followed Mist as it floated cautiously through the forest. Sal felt very small compared to how tell the forest was. She felt a sinking feeling in her stomach as they reached a small miss covered wooden house. Sal looked over at Mist.
"Do we have to?"
Yes, anikokid.
Sal rolled her eyes and knocked on the door. No answer. She knocked again. There was audible yelling and a loud sound of glass being broken. A loud scream of pain followed by silence. Then the door swung open.
A girl noticeably shorter than Sal, but looked the younger than her, was standing in the door frame. She had short dark blue hair, freckles, her hair was held back with a small pink pin. Her shoulder was bleeding and she looked about to cry. Sal was speechless.
The girl spoke in a soft tone "Y'all gonna come in? Its a mighty bit warmer in here."
Sal nodded and walked into the house and found it was much bigger on the inside than the outside.
"This is much different than Britain. Do you perhaps happen to have some tea on you?"
"Yes ma'am, we got sweet tea" the girl spoke, obviously surprised at Sal's
accent.Sal, she's an anikokid.
Sal gave mist a questioning look.
I have the ability to detect them, that's how I found you.
Sal sighed and turned to the small girl making sweet tea.
"You're an anikokid"
The girl stopped and stared at Sal
"I'm a huh?""You're an anikokid, which is important I guess. According to Mist" she pointed to Mist.
The girl shook her head. "There ain't an important bone in my body Miss."
Sal retorted "Isn't. Proper grammar please. Ain't isn't acceptable"
The girl laughed. Actually laughed. "What do you mean it ain't? Sure it is. Ya just aren't use to it"
Sal felt angry but ignored it. "You'll have to follow Mist and I"
"But I got stuff to do. Mistress says I gotta stay n' clean"
Sal rolled her eyes again. 'Why is everyone so difficult?' she thought to herself. "What's your name?"
"Jesse"
'Oh that explains everything. She's southern.'
Anikokid we must make haste. There are others to collect.
Sal nodded and grabbed Jesse's arm. "We're leaving its obvious you aren't liked here." she shifted her eyes to the large cuts on Jesse's shoulders and arms. Jesse frowned and nodded slightly. And they were on their way.
