The noise of war filled the air and I watched as both armies went at each other with roars in there voices and determination in there eyes. As we got farther from the battle, I could still here the crash of metal and the screams of fear.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and my anger began to grow.
"Put me down now", I yelled
The girl said nothing and kept on running.
I looked into her eyes and could tell she was sorry for everything. Yet somehow I knew none of this was her fault. I could sense the kindness in her heart and it reminded me of my mother.
I thought again about Kyle and my anger again grew.
"I SAID PUT ME DOWN"
I swung my fist straight at the back of her head; but before it made any contact it was stopped by one of the large men running beside her.
"She did warn you", the man said
This man had a low voice and looked to be in his mid 40's. He had a big shield on his left arm and was holding an axe in his right hand. His armor covered his entire body except his head.
I tugged away and he let my arm go.
"There all dead, tell me why... Why did they kill them, why did they kill Kyle, why did they all die?"
The girl spoke, "they killed them because you were there, which is why I told you to leave."
"That doesn't make any sense. Why would they kill them just because I was there?"
"Because..." the man began to speak but was cut off by the girl.
"Dalabar, now is not the time nor the place."
"Apologies my lady"
My lady? Who is this girl?
"Who are you and why won't you tell me what's going on"?
"If you would like my lady I can shut him up for you?" I turned to the young boy in the robe who just spoke. He had a big smile on his face and I knew that he was the cocky type.
"There is no need for that." replied the girl.
The smile quickly faded away from the young boys face.
"How much time do you think we have?", Dalabar asked.
"Hopefully enough. They'll eventually find out he is no longer at the school. At that point it's just a matter of how many forces they actually brought here and where they are. If it's not to much we should be able to avoid most of them. The less we fight the better", said the girl.
Fight.... I don't want to fight anyone. I don't know how to fight. I don't understand anything.
The girl stopped running and set me on the ground.
"I'm done carrying you. Your a big boy. Now come on, run", the girl said.
She grabbed my arm and started running again.
"Where are we going?", I asked
Dalabar smiled and pointed to a cluster of trees. "Our ride is over there."
"You guys couldn't have parked closer."
"Parked?" Dalabar laughed "our ride isn't a car. And no, any closer and they probably would have been killed."
He could tell I was confused. But didn't bother to explain anymore.
I looked up ahead and as we got closer to the trees I noticed something just on the other side. It looked like some sort of animal. As we passed the trees I came to a stop.
"What the..." I said quietly to myself.
The animal was a horse with two large wings covered in gold armor. It's head stood 7ft off the ground.
"It's a pegasus.", I said.
The girl patted my shoulder and smiled. "Yes it is, now get on."
The girl jumped on and reached out her hand.
I grabbed it and she pulled me up onto the pegasus. Dalabar, the young boy, and the girl with a bow jumped onto their own pegai.
"I thought they didn't exist?" I asked in amazement.
"Then open your eyes and think again", the girl replied. "Now hold on."
I looked around for something to hold on to; but there seemed to only be the reins which the girl already had a hold of.
"What am I supposed to hold on to?"
She smiled... "Me."
She flicked the reins and I nearly fell backwards off the pegasus.
I quickly put my arms around her waist.
She laughed and I started to blush.
I soon realized that fact and quickly turned my head so she couldn't see it.We were getting higher and higher off the ground. I looked back and could see fire and smoke everywhere. I began to feel sad again.
I thought about my mom and wondered if I was ever going to see her again. I know she's going to be worried. When she hears about the school getting attacked she will probably think I died. I wanted to make sure she knew I was ok. Yet, I still don't understand what exactly is going on. My school became a battlefield and was destroyed. As I watched the fire burn behind us I knew today was my last day of school.
