How can a parent be so heartless that they look into the broken eyes of their child, yet continue to yell.

How can a parent be so cruel, that their wishes become more important than the child's needs...

How is it that the child considers doing better, yet becomes broken once again

Thinking it's their fault until they realize....
It's not them.
It's the parent...

And every night they fear
That they will not wake tomorrow to see the light.

But mostly
They fear that they may wake, but as an empty shell of their former self.

They may not have bruises but that doesn't mean they don't have scars.
