Grinning, I watched the boys perform on stage. Of course, I wasn't there, I was watching it from my cramped apartment. I would have been there, but I wasn't a fan of crowds. Even though it made Jungkook disappointed, I still refused to go out of fear.

I snapped out of it when the boys began to walk off stage. I reached for my phone and eagerly awaited Jungkook's text. I waited and waited for the familiar ping that I was so fond of. Eventually, I got tired of waiting and doing nothing, so I decided to play some games. After around half an hour of playing Candy Crush and Crossy Road, I drifted off to sleep.

--------

I was awakened from my nap by a beeping noise. Groaning, I opened my eyes slightly. The TV and lights were off, but the red light on my security alert was blinking. By now, I was wide awake. I whipped my head around, but all I saw was darkness. After I stood up and stretched, I groped blindly around the room for a light switch.

Grinning with triumph after I found one, I quickly lost my grin. I flicked it on and off, but unfortunately, the lights stayed off. I let my hand slide down the wall as I banged my head softly on it. As I sighed, I turned on my phone. I quickly turned on the flashlight and looked around.

"Hello?" I called out, but immediately cursed myself for it. What was I? The stupid cliche female in a horror movie? No, I'm (Y/n) (L/n) and I'm not scared of anything. Except for spiders. And crowds. I guess I'm a little scared of clowns too. I lightly slapped my face with my hand. "Get a hold of yourself, woman!" I whispered. Suddenly, a loud bang came from my kitchen. All the color drained from my face. I held my breath and slowly walked towards the kitchen. I slowly peered into the doorway, flashing the light in there.

I screamed. In front of my light was a man in a black face mask. I stumbled backwards, dropping my phone and source of light. A hand covered my mouth and another gripped my wrists. "Why didn't you just stay asleep?" I heard a gruff voice mutter. The hand that was holding my wrists loosened, and I took advantage of it. I ripped my arms free, and swung blindly behind me. I hit something solid, but he grabbed my arm and pinned me to wall.

With my face against the wall, and my arms pinned to my back, I was trapped. I let out a small whimper. The man chuckled behind me. He started to say something else, but a quiet ping interrupted him. My phone lit up on the ground. He pushed me against the wall more, and I felt cold metal press against my temple. "Go get your phone and answer the text. It's probably from your idol boyfriend. Make one wrong move and I'll shoot you." He released me, but I could sense the gun was still trained on me. I slowly picked up my phone, terrified. "Faster!" His void startled me, almost making me drop it. I unlocked my phone quickly and went to my texts.

JK: Hey, sorry I didn't message you earlier, we had a small interview after the concert.

JK: I'm on my way to your apartment, do you need anything?

I was about to alert him about the man, but then I realized that the man would probably kill me. "Well? Is it from your idol boyfriend?" He sounded impatient. "Yes." I meekly answered. "Good, text him to get here immediately." I did as I was told.

You: No, I'm good, could you hurry though? I'm in a bit of a jam.

"There, I sent it." "Good, sit down on the couch, and don't move." I sat on the couch, not really wanting to get shot. After a little while, I heard keys jingling at the door. I had given him a key to my apartment almost six months ago. The door opened, and the hallway lights of my apartment building lit up the room. "(Y/n)? Why are the-" Jungkook was interrupted by the sound of a gun being cocked. I pulled my knees up to my chest.

The door shut after a long period of silence. The sound of heavy footsteps filled the room, followed by someone sitting next to me on the couch. I heard the sound of metal scraping metal, and the lights turned on. I looked beside me and saw Jungkook shielding his eyes. I buried my face back into my knees. "What the hell is going on?" Jungkook's angry voice cut through the silence. I squeezed my arms around my legs tighter. "Well you see, in holding you and your pretty little girlfriend for ransom. How much do you think they'll pay for a precious idol and his girlfriend? A lot! That's the answer. Now," he paused. "both of you are going to stay on that couch obediently and you won't get shot."

Once the man picked up my phone and called somebody on it, I let out a small sob I had been holding. I felt Jungkook embrace me and pull me into his lap. Letting tears fall down my face, I gripped onto his shirt. "Sh, everything's going to be okay jagi." As he continued to whisper comforting words to me, I buried my face into the crook of his neck. I still had no clue what he had done to the lights, but that wasn't important. I heard a gagging noise come from my left. I lifted up my tear-streaked face to see the man looking disgusted at us. "I swear, you two are too lovey dovey. It's making me sick."

The man quickly walked over to us, and pulled me away from Jungkook by the arm. "Let go of her right now." The man stopped dragging me away, and scoffed at Jungkook. "Or what? You'll sing me a lullaby to make me sleep?" He teases him. Jungkook looked extremely angry at this point. I liked at him worriedly. Jungkook noticed, and slightly calmed down.

"I'll ask once more, let go of her." The man rolled his eyes. "Just sit your pretty ass down, a pretty boy like you wouldn't look good with a bullet hole in his-" He was cut off by Jungkook punching him in the jaw. The man reacted by pulling the trigger on his gun. Jungkook held his ears, while I looked down at the bloody spot on my chest. I let out a small cough and fell down. Jungkook raced towards me, and then everything went black.

--------

Beep.

Beep.

My eyes slowly fluttered open at the beeping noise. I was met by a bright white light. I sat up, but regretted it as a pain in my chest started to throb. I looked around once my eyes adjusted to the light. "Jungkook?" I whispered. I looked at the chairs next to the hospital bed, but they were empty. A frown settled on my face. I was in the hospital, alone, after I was shot in my own apartment.

I looked to my left and saw a vase of red and pink roses along with an envelope. I reached over and picked up the light pink envelope. It had my name on the front in what I recognized to be Jungkook's handwriting. I hurriedly opened it, and read it. As I read it tears fell down my face. I clutched the letter close to my chest and let out soft sobs.

The heart monitor beside me began to beep faster as my sobs grew louder. My vision became dotted with black spots. The room began to spin and I fell backwards. Nurses filled the room, accompanied by a doctor. My arm fell out to the side of me, dropping the letter. My vision grew darker, until I saw a white light. I saw Jungkook holding out his hand to me, smiling at  me. I reached out for him, but I began falling into darkness. Jungkook and the light faded away and were replaced by pitch blackness. My body became numb, and I closed my eyes for the last time.

Dear (Y/n) (L/n),

(Y/n), the year and a half I spent with you was amazing. But now, I realize, you are in danger because of me. Since I am an idol, and our relationship is public, you have been put in danger. I love you, and I will always love you. But this is for the best. That night, I saw you get hurt because someone wanted me. Because of me, you were shot and hospitalized. I can't stand to see the woman I love be hurt because of me. So, I am letting you go. You can find somebody else to have a normal life with. A smart, handsome guy with a normal job and life. What guy wouldn't want you? You're everything I ever wanted, but it was too good to be true. You were hurt because of me, and now that will never happen again. Just remember that I will always love you, and I will never stop.

Sincerely,
Jeon Jungkook
