I placed the yellow, checkered picnic blanket on the grass and sat down. Lorcan attempted to sit on my lap but I pushed him off laughing. The only problem with having 140 pounds of wolf sat on you is that he weighed more than me and those claws were not retractable. The drool was also not flattering on my dress.
I placed the meat on the ground for Lorcan and he quickly dug in. Joseph dug in almost as fast. I had only just set out the food when he had a sandwich in his mouth. Most guys are like wolves when it comes to their food. I raised my left eyebrow at him as he sat with his second ham sandwich in his mouth. He swallowed and grinned sheepishly. I laughed at his expression.
I nibbled on a peice of lettuce. "Rabbit food?" He questioned.
"I'm a vegetarian." I replied.
"Since when?" He inquired.
"Since I was 4." I told him with a shrug. He looked shocked. "I was a pretty stobborn kid and I refused to eat meat once I found out where it came from." I said. He just chuckled and shook his head. I stared at him. I loved his laugh. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach. Stop the judgement guys it was just a little crush, or a huge one. I bit my bottem lip.
"You are amazing, Destiny." He laughed and I blushed.
"I'm actually pretty avarage," I said then added, "Less than avarage actually." Under my breath. I hung my head, embarrased.
He put a finger under my chin and lifted my head back up to meet his eyes. "No Destiny, you're amazing," He said with conviction and honesty, "How many vegetarians can say they haven't eaten meat since they were 4, how many animal lovers can say they tamed a wild wolf when they were 8, how many girls can do all the good that you did and not be big headed?" I stared into his soothing blue eyes and I think my heart may have stopped for a moment.
The moment was ruined when Lorcan started snarling. I turned around to see what was upsetting him and I almost screamed because there, in the trees, was a blood soaked figure. It was a young girl in a white dress with black hair. A knife was stuck in her stomach and a rope was around her slender neck. Her feet dangled a few inches above the ground. That wasn't the worst thing. The worst thing was that despite the fact that her injuries were clearly fatal she was still moving.
I screamed and pointed to her. Joseph looked scared and confused. "What is it?" He asked.
"The girl in the trees!" I screeched.
"Destiny," He said cautiously, " There's nobody there." Then why was she still there and why was Lorcan snarling? I blacked out...
