Lucy wore an extravagent gown, which made every boys' and man's jaw drop. She was just as beautiful as Aphrodite. The gown was a soft pink that Jasmine had to force Lucy to wear. It had long sleeves, a swooping neckline, it hugged Lucy's small waist and silk draped to the floor. Her face was faintly brushed with blush, her full lips were pinkened, her dark blue eyes sparkled and a diamond necklace glittered around her neck. Her purple ring from her father and mother sat on her ring finger, giving the appearance that she was married. She didn't want any boys to give her any grief tonight. Her high cheekbones stood out with her hair brushed and pinned back with a ivory comb that belonged to the queen herself, decorated with flowers. It was the comb she wore for their wedding and every anniversity. Now she had gotten rid of it, not by giving it to Jasmine, who had not wanted it, nor Jani, but to the closest one: Lucy.
As she approached the high table, Jayce glanced up to see what the slience was about when he saw Lucy. She avoided everyone's gaze and clutched onto Trace's arm as he led her to her chair. Jayce's breath was caught in his throat, just like every other man's and he felt a lust for her like he never felt before.
She sat down like a lady and greeted everyone quietly. Even the king was impressed by how she looked and Marcus was pleasantly proud of her. She behaved herself well, poised and sophicated like a real Lady would be. She was trying to impress Marcus so that she could get something. She teasingly drank sparkingly red wine, and dropped a fork so a man servant rushed to pick it up for her. She had giggled and thanked him. She was a perfect lady, her beauty stunning every man and woman, and her sosphicated talk was enjoyed by everyone and her voice was so sweet it made everyone want more.
"So, where's the real Lucy at?" Marcus finally asked. Lucy just giggled like a school girl and smiled pleasantly, showing off her perfect white teeth. "I mean, you're perfect! If only the real Lucy could be like this all the time!"
"But Marx, I am the real Lucy. I'll prove it too. Just give me a knife..."
"Oh no, there's no need for that!" gasped Marcus. He chuckled and sighed, his eyes beaming. "Lucy, you truely are beautiful tonight. Is there a certain boy you are trying to woo?" Lucy smiled and wiggled her ring finger in the air. He noticed the ring was on her marriage finger and gulped nervously. "Oh Lucy! So a man asked for your hand in marriage?"
"Oh, congratulations!" squealed Jasmine as she beamed at Lucy. Jani and Jade looked pleasantly surprised and congratulated her too.
Lucy's pretty face turned red and she glanced away from everybody. Yes, a man had asked for her hand in marriage, but she wasn't planning on marrying him. "Is this why you are acting the way you are? You want my blessings." Marcus seemed smug about it. "Am I the first to give you my blessings since Thanos isn't here?" Lucy's face went a bright red and she shook her head, ashamed of herself and what she had done.
Silently, she switched the ring to her forefinger, a frown appearing on her pretty face. "This was my mother's ring from my father the night he asked for her hand." Marcus went white and dropped his fork that had a hunk of meat on it.
"Alethea's? I never saw it before," he breathed in awe. "And you have it?"
"As her only daughter, it makes sense," Jade replied for Lucy. "Don't the mothers always give their wedding tokens to their oldest daughter?" Jade sat next to Lucy and fingered the comb in her hair, a sadness filling her kind green eyes. Jacob smiled shyly at Lucy and quickly glanced away. She felt separated from them all, like she wasn't really a part of the close knit family. Sudden tears streaked down her face as she turned her head so no one could see.
A hand gently wiped the tears away and she looked up into a familiar face framed by oak colored hair that swept aside to show off amazing hazel eyes with green and blue flecks. He smiled gently down at her and she leaped up to embrace him.
