As I walked around the corner I thought of the shouts of abuse from my father rang throughout my head. My cheek then started to throb where he had hit me and my hand flew to my cheek without another thought. I then saw my boyfriends shop and rushed forward to open the door. I swung open the door and smiled at the familiar tinkling of the bell. As I walked in the smell of bacon hit me and I looked instantly to the counter where my best friend Mia was serving a dark haired girl named Letty a bacon roll. Mia looked up and her eyes instantly widened with shock. She ran around the counter and put her hand to my cheek. I winced at the contact and she shook her head crossly.
"You aren't going back," she said firmly.
"It's nothing Mia. Don't worry," I said and brushed her off before walking away. I then felt a strong hand on my arm and I turned to see Letty looking at me over her sunglasses.
"You are staying here where your brother and your boyfriend and we can all protect you," Letty growled. I wrenched my arm back and rubbed my arm furiously.
"Fine," i said angrily and glared at her.
"We're just trying to do what's best for you Ari," Mia said and pulled me into a hug. My mood immediately softened and I relaxed into her, wrapping my arms around her too.
"I know. I just... I don't want my dad to come here and hurt you all. Your my real family," I said and pulled away.
"Don't worry. Our boys will protect you," Mia smiled. I nodded and squeezed her hand.
"I'm going to get changed and go work on the cars," I said before going behind the counter and walking upstairs.
