Silent corridors. Indeed, Arnold's apartment was always devoid of any outside noise. He wasn't sure why he could never hear the street, but he could hear something else. The sound of the heating vents, always.

*Hummmmmmmmm* ardently there, in the background. Low and only audible when you think about them, his apartment's own breath. *Hummmmmmmmm*

He laid his back on the wall and slid down to the floor. They were frosty, the rough concrete wall, and the smooth marble floor.

*Knock Knock Knock*

He had visitors, Arnold slowly rose and walked down the long corridor to the door. He could never reach it however, the corridor would always stretch too far away when someone came, though rarely anyone ever did.

*Knock Knock Knock*

He reached the door this time though, and opened it. It was a woman.

"Hello!" She said. Arnold tilted his head trying to study her features.

He couldn't. Her face melted away, she was faceless. She was talking, he could hear that, but her features had disappeared. He scratched his head in confusion. Her voice was weird. It was very masculine, very deep. It echoed as well. Monotonous. It sounded like she was talking backwards.

"Ezigolopa I. Snigeb lla ti." She bowed.

Arnold closed the door scratching his head even harder. He turned around and looked at his feet, he saw a cat on the ground.

He petted it. Cute animal. Thick grey fur. He didn't have a cat though. It was a wonderful animal still.

"Go to sleep." it said. Arnold smiled. Its voice just as ominous as that of the woman.

He walked to his bed.

He reached his bed, the ceiling fan was on. He could hear its sound, cutting through the air and wobbling. Hypnotising.

He slept.

He woke up with a loud ding, but he wasn't in his apartment anymore. It was dark, so very dark. Pitch black. He could still look at himself clearly, he wasn't affected by the lack of light for whatever reason. He looked at the distance, the void was painted with far white dots. Numerous, like a clear night sky.

He walked forward, though he had no sense of direction. He kept walking, until he noticed a large white hole. He approached it, stepping over it. It's wasn't really a hole, he didn't fall through it, but it just looked like one in the deep black setting he was in. He continued walking aimlessly, though something was off.

The white hole, it followed him. Every step he took, the hole would follow.
