"Come on Mom!" I said screaming as loud as I could towards the house, dragging Sugar to the arena.

"I'm coming sweetie! I need to get my boots on!” She yelled back looking at me from the porch. "Did u get the girth on tight enough?"

"Yes mom!" I screamed back at her.

She strolled over a little slower than usual to the small arena we had built last year. There were two jumps, they were set at about 1”, but they could go higher. I lead Sugar over to the mounting block while my mother walked over.  She held Sugar next to the mounting block while I put one foot in the stirrup and slowly lifted off of it into the brand new saddle we had gotten last year. Sugar flinched then backed up a step with my weight on her back. Then stayed perfectly still.

"Good job Sugar!" Mom said rasping.

I patted Sugars’ shoulder, "Mom are you okay? You might want to go rest." I suggested.

"No, No, I'm finishing the lesson with you." She started coughing again.

"Mom? Are you sure-"

"Yes! I'm sure, you have been waiting a week for this." Mom cut me off.

I walked Sugar around the arena while mom lead her. She lead for the first three laps then walked to the center and watched. We attempted to trot, and I was successful. Sugar and I trotted smoothly around the arena. Only for a few laps before I walked her out. Sugar was very sweet just like mom had told me, She was thrilled to go out a graze. Galloping across the paddock with her tail whisking behind her looking so beautiful and free. I wish someday I could gallop her like that.

I stumbled back from my gaze when Mother walked by coughing and wheezing. She looked really pale, almost like she was going to-. Mothers body tumbled to the ground with no sign of stopping. I lunged forward trying to catch her unconscious body. She fell into my arms right before her shoulders collided with the gravel.

"Mom! Mom! Are you okay?" I asked frantically.

There was no answer.

I started panicking, I didn't have a cell phone on me and the nearest device was the house phone. I tried to pick her up, I didn't think she would weigh that much as she was only 25 years old. She was so much taller than me though. I set her down on the grass and raced inside to grab the house phone

I dialed 9-1-1. *Ring* *Ring* *Ri-

Lady on 911 call: Hello, what is your emergency?

Me: My mother has fainted all of a sudden!

Lady: Ok, what is happening right now?

Me: She is laying on the grass where she passed out.

Lady: Was there any signs that you noticed prior to her fainting?

Me: She was coughing and wheezing.

Lady: Is that it?

Me: She looked very pale too.

Lady: You did the right thing by calling us, Where are you located?

Me: 21156 Country Grove Ave.

Lady: We will send an emergency vehicle right away.

Me: Thank you so much!

Lady: What does she look like now?  Can you see her breathing?

Me: Not really, its hard to tell.

Lady: Ok. The paramedics will be there shortly. Stay where you are and listen for sirens.

Me: Thank you.

The call ended, and the flashing lights and blaring sirens told me the ambulance was here. Some how I knew this moment would affect my life forever, I had no idea what challenges were ahead.

"Ah! Are you okay!" I heard a distance scream. "Help! This girl has fallen off her horse!"

I felt a surge of sharp pain in my head and jolted my eyes open. I swear I had felt bone, blood poured down my arm in rivers. A whinny behind me and a gasp in front of me filled my ears.

"Are you okay?" A human voice said in shock.

I slowly raised my head cautiously. Gazing at me in wonder and panic, were those same piercing green eyes that froze me back in the forest. I locked gazes with her not saying a word until a cry came from Whisper. I swung my head over to look at him, a large gash was right across his shoulder.  Bruises and blisters covered is front and hind legs. I raced over to him checking how bad the scars were. Whisper was lucky he didn't break any bones or fracture his legs that I could see. I didn't know if he

had any internal injuries though which, was a problem since I am in the forest 24/7. There is not really a vet I can just walk him to, is there. Whisper didn't look like he was in much pain but then I realized something else I should be more worried about. That girl.
