~Dan's Point of View~

I walk towards the apartment, but hear that Phil's parents are still over. Looks like I will have to find something else to do until they leave. I turn around and walk past Emma's apartment as quickly as possible.

I walk outside and see that is is raining. I laugh to myself at the irony of the weather. I decide that my best option is to get some coffee, so I walk to the closest coffee shop to shorten the amount of time I have to walk in the rain. I order my coffee and sit down at a table next to a window looking out at the street. How could I let myself be such a fool? I let myself fall for a girl I only knew for what, two days? Nice one Dan, you idiot. And the fact that I was so upset about his was absolutely pathetic as well. The fact that it was pathetic did not stop me from being upset though, so I was just going to have to deal with it.

Ding! I pick up my phone to read the text that I just got. "My parents just left, so feel free to come home whenever!" Phil texted me. I finish up my coffee and head home.

"I'm home, Phil" I yell out as I hang up my coat and head up to my room.

"Hello Danny boy!" Phil says as he pokes his head out of his bedroom.

"How was your parents visit?"

"It was really nice! Thanks for leaving for a few hours, did you go to Emma's?" Phil said doing the most awkward wink I've ever seen.

"For a bit" I said quickly, turning around and heading into my room.

Phil must have noticed me trying to avoid the topic of Emma. "Whoa, did something happen?" he asked in a concerned tone.

"No, nothing happened" I lied. "I'm just not feeling well, so I don't want to talk right now."

"Dan, I can tell that you are lying. What happened?" Phil said stepping into my room.

"What happened is that I'm an idiot, and that's that." I snapped.

"Dan, there is no need to be so dramatic, just tell me what actually happened and we can be done with this."

I sighed and decided to just tell Phil so he would leave me alone. "Well, as you obviously picked up on, I may have developed some feelings towards Emma. Apparently she does not feel the same way, which I don't know why I expected her to."

"How do you know that? Did you ask her?"

"As I left her apartment, I heard her friend saying that I liked her, and Emma told her to stop, saying she did want me to hear and think that she liked me." I say sounding like heartbroken 12 year old.

"Well, you may have missed part of the conversation, or misunderstood what she said" Phil said trying to comfort me.

"Yea, I doubt it. It's not a big deal, I hardly know her anyway." I say trying to convince myself that what I'm saying is true.

"You could always go talk to her and clear this all up." Phil suggested

"No thanks, that would end horribly." I say.

"Alright, well I will let you be alone..." Phil said awkwardly as he backed out of my room, leaving me to wallow in self pity.
