Chapter 13

I had just got to the park and was unloading he kids when Cristina came up and helped me.

"Hey Zola how is my little niece?"

Zola just gave her a hug and ran to the playground.

"Don't take it personally, kids love the playgrounds." I said to her.

"Yeah obviously more than they love their favorite Aunt."

I pulled out a ice chest with sandwiches and fruit in and put it in the tray under Emilies stroller. Cristina picked up Bailey and we walked over to a bench near the playground where we could watch Zola and Bailey play.

"So I know this is a lot to ask but how would you like to watch the kids for Derek and I so we can have a little alone time and relax?"

"Oh you want me to watch these cuties so you can catch up on doing the mcnasty with your mcdreamy?"

"Cristina!" I said acted like it wasn't true. "Yes please." I covered up Emilies ears, don't ask me why it's not like she understands but still, "and we have had sex but then we have to wake up early the next morning for the kids."

She chuckled, "of course I'll watch them. what day? I have off sunday. so Saturday night and Sunday day?"

"That's perfect Derek doesn't have to go in until 3:15 on Sunday." I grabbed the ice chest then called for Zola and Bailey to come eat.

"I'll go get them." Cristina said. And before I knew it she was gone and came back with them both in her arms. They ate their sandwiches and fruit and went to finish playing while I fed Emilie her baby food and packed up.

*Later at Meredith and Derek's*

I had just finished feeding the kids dinner and putting them to bed when Derek walked in.

"Are the kids already asleep?"

"Yes, I just put them down."

"Damn it. I knew I was there too late!"

"It's okay, you are a surgeon. I get it, I used to be one." I kissed him on the cheek when he sat down on the bed. "By the way Cristina said she'll watch the kids Saturday night."

"Good we need it," he kissed me hard then went to get into the shower. I then went to sleep.

"Mommy wake up!" Zola said loudly. I opened my eyes and she was standing in front of me, I then looked at the clock and it said 1:23 am.

"Zola why are you awake?"

"My tummy hurts." I picked her up and put her on the outside of the bed next to me.

"You can sleep in here then we will make it better in the morning. okay?"

"Okay," she said in a low, sad voice. I rubbed her stomach until she fell asleep.

"Meredith, Meredith," Derek said shaking me.

I opened my eyes and looked at him standing up, "what?"

"I have to leave and Zola is in the bath tub. I put her in an oatmeal bath hoping to make her feel better and gave her some Pepto."

"Okay, thank you." He kissed my forehead then headed out. I walked into the bathroom to check on Zola. "Hey Zozo, how are you feeling?"

"Little better. still hurts mommy."

"I know, lets get you out of the bath and make some pancakes. Does that sound good?"

"Yeah," she replied not very excited as usual.

I got her out and started making pancakes and she helped me stir the mix. After awhile Bailey woke up and they went to watch Dora.

"The pancakes are ready," they came and sat down at the table while I put their cut up pancakes in front of them then went to check on Emilie. I walked into her room and she was just laying in her crib smiling. "What are you doing in here not making any noise?" I picked her up and carried her to the kitchen to feed her.
