Christmas brings surprises

CHAPTER 6⃣

Holidays at the hospital was always hectic. You have people getting hurt and nearly killing themselves by driving crazy or climbing up on their roofs to hang decorations or getting drunk and being stupid. "Page Dr.Shepherd 911 right now!" I yelled at Shane. A guy just came in with a knife stabbed in his head. "Sir, I'm Dr. Grey I will be taking care of you today. Do you know how this happened?" He looked at me for awhile and I was about to speak when he replied, "we were throwing knives at targets and I went to get something at the wrong time and bam the knife went in my head." Seriously what the hell was wrong with people.

"Dr. Grey you paged?" my husband walked up while I was looking at the mans x-rays. "Yeah this is a guy who has a knife in his head, it's poking into his brain." He looked at the files for awhile then said, "we will have to do a hemospherectomy on him." "where are going to remove half his brain?" Shane asked surprised and excited in one. "Yes now go let him know and prep him," Derek told him. He left the room. "What's this Dr.Grey stuff? this morning it was Meredith." I asked him. "I was just trying to be professional. It kind of just came out." "Derek, Shane knows we are married and that we have kids. He kind of was there for Baileys delivery." He grabbed my hands then spoke to me, "I know, like I said it just kind of happened," he kissed me, love you." Then he left, "love you too," I said but he was already gone.

"How was your hemospherectomy?" Crisitna asked me. "It was good, he made it out fine. You still coming over tonight?" "Yeah, um it will just be me, Owen won't be coming," she responded. "Oh, um okay. Well I'll see you later!" I left so I could get the kids and go home to get ready for the Christmas dinner.

I walked into the kitchen where Derek was cooking the dinner, "need any help?" "Oh Meredith we know how you and cooking go. Doesn't work out very well. But I still love you." I just laughed and left. He wasn't wrong, I burned everything or it came out terrible, t just never worked. I went and got the kids dressed then got ready for the day.

'Ding-dong'. I headed for the door. "Merry Christmas!" said Callie holding Sophia with Arizona standing next to her holding a bottle of wine and some desert. "You too! come in." I let them in and was about to shut the door when Cristina headed up to the door with Alex and Jo not far behind. Then Jackson, then April and Matthew. I let them in and we all started drinking and snacking before dinner. We all sat down and toasted and Derek and I brought out the food. "So I have some news," Said Alex, "Jo and I are getting married!" "Yay!" Said Arizona, "congrats!" "Well congrats evil spawn! I have some news too. Owen and I ended things." "I'm sorry, are you ok?" I asked her. "Yeah it's no big deal," she replied. I wasn't sure if Derek and I should still tell our news, but then he grabbed my hand and gave it a little squeeze for reassurance. "Derek and I have some news too. I'm pregnant!" All eyes were on me and Derek was just smiling. Then congratulations flooded us.
