Chris' POV
" Training?" I asked meekly. He nodded, grabbing my wrist.
" You're gonna need it, companion." He said darkly, with some sort of evil grin. He let go and turned back to the others. " Take him to the top, i'll follow once i got the equipment."
" Understood master" They said simultaneously. They scurried out the door, gesturing me to follow.
" Why do you call him master?" I asked, hoping Thomas didn't hear.
" Because he is our master." Matthew stated nervously. " Now come." I followed him into another chrome-like room. It has no carpets or any decoration, it was pure white. " This is a elevator that leads to the upper earth." He pointed.
" Wait, is this a mine?" i asked confused.
" I don't know." he said bluntly, giving me a strange look. " Now lets go."
We hopped in the elevator, i feared what this whole training thing was. Matthew looked at me with odd looks every now and then, like i was the different one. Although that wasn't true.
" Almost there." Dominic chuckled madly. " W-we are gonna show ya the real world buddy." He grinned, showing a row of perfect teeth, and incredibly large canines that would tear you apart instantly, it gave me a image of a insane monster you would see in your nightmares.
" Don't scare him Dominic." Matthew looked at him with a warm look, and a calmer expression. " Okay we're here." He spoke, as the elevator doors cranked open. It was a very old lift, it was definitely a mine. I was met with a soft cold breeze as i stepped outside. Memories came flooding back of my home, my family. I almost forgot about them, although i never cared much, they all hated me anyway. I looked up at the night sky, it has been a whole day of being underground with freaks that i just met, well i guess Thomas i liked.
" We have a special place where we train to hunt. We call it the hunting grounds, its pretty small and not a very creative name. But it works." Matthew said, pushing Dominic making him walk faster. " I overheard you and Thomas talking. He seemed to have said that he only bit you so he could have a friend?" I felt my stomach turn. He struck me a dark look, a warning almost.
" Yes, but i have nothing to do with that." I swallowed hard, hoping and praying that i would just get out of this place. I couldn't run away, we seemed to be fenced in.
" That's fine." he said sweetly. " Im not mad."
" Thank god for that." I looked to the horizon, i saw a huge stone arch and a sign with words painted in some red liquid, i can only presume to be blood. " 'Hunting Grounds'" I repeated, looking around.
" Yeah, but we aren't really gonna train you Christopher." He grunted. " You're gonna help us escape." he gave me a look of hope, seeming he really wanted to get out of here. It's like Thomas bit them too, just for company. And then it came to me that Dominic and Matthew probably had families too, separated for 6 whole years. " Please Chris." He looked at me with heart eyes, hoping i would say yes. I thought about the whole fact about leaving Thomas. His warm smile, his hazel eyes, his hugs that were comforting. But i had no choice.
" Yes."
