The next couple of days were quiet. I managed to finish my book, practically uninterrupted that whole time. I discovered that there were modern books on my bookshelf and I was thrilled to dig into them.
I was sitting on my bed listening to music and flipping through pages of a book when I glanced up and saw the slender figure of Loki in my door way.
Neither one of us spoke for a minute, until I decided to break the silence.
"Can I help you?" I spoke, immediately regretting my tone. He was technically the prince here. I shouldn't be rude.
"You were invited to dinner." He smiled at me. My eyes must have been very wide.
"What do I wear?" Was the first thing that came into my mind.
Loki looked me up and down. "What you have on is fine." He started to leave my room before stopping himself. "But you may want to fix your hair."
I reached up to my hair and felt it's ratted mess on top. I ran to my bathroom to comb it out. I didn't realize that laying on my bed would cause such a problem. I pulled the sides of my hair back and pinned them into place like Gretta had showed me.
I dusted off my forest green dress, and tugged the long sleeves down to where they were supposed to be, rather than where they were pulled up.
I left the bathroom and found my shoes at the end of my bed and slipped them on. I stepped out of the room to see Loki waiting for me in his room.
His tall figure stared out of his window, his hands clasped behind his back. I went over and stood next to him. We both gazed out at the world below us.
"What are you thinking about?" I tilted my head to the side and looked up at him.
Loki gave a half smile and replied, "The future." He suddenly turned away from me. "Let's go to dinner."
Loki's stride was longer than mine, and he gracefully sauntered out of the room, while I tripped and stumble over my own feet trying to catch up with him.
Loki held the door open for me, and put my hand through his arm as we walked down the hallway. Loki brought me to a room that hosted a long table where Loki's mother sat at the head.
"How is father?" Loki walked over to his mother, and pulled a chair out for me, and he sat next to his mother.
She sighed. "There hasn't been much change. He is still unconscious."
"I see." Loki nodded as a plate of food was set in front of all of us.
Dinner was silent. I was dying to ask Loki what happened to his father, but decided it was probably best to wait until we were back in his room.
I sat with my hands folded on my lap, staring at the dark wall behind Loki. I decided that when we got back to his room, I would sweep up the floors, and probably shower and go to bed.
I rarely did housework, but when I did, I made sure that it was done perfectly. I wasn't completely sure why Loki brought me here. I didn't do anything for him but sit in my room, occasionally his, and read.
"Well mother," Loki started, pushing his chair back and standing up to move over to me. "I think we'll be going now." Loki came over to me as I stood up and pushed my chair in.
I smiled at her. "Thank you for inviting me."
She nodded her head. "Of course, my dear." Her smile was kind as her eyes slid over towards her son. "It is rare that Loki brings home a girl."
Loki's face was stone cold with the glare he sent her. He wrapped his had around mine and put it through his arm. "We'll be going now."
Loki paraded me through the room and out the large double doors. His walk was brisk and fast paced. I was nearly tripping my whole way through the hall back to Loki's room.
We came to his room, and Loki threw open his door and pulled us both behind it as he simultaneous slammed it shut. I stumbled backwards a couple of steps, only to be stopped from falling by having Loki put his hand behind my back and bringing me back to my feet.
As we stood there, he did not remove his hand from my back. Instead, he used it as an opportunity to push me closer to him. I felt my heart racing within my chest. My eyes were nearly about to pop out from my face. I felt my mouth clench together in an attempt to remain as calm as possible. The two of us were inches apart. I had never noticed how wonderful he smelt before… it reminded me of my forest.
The two of us unconsciously drew closer together. My head was tilted back to look up at Loki. His eyes were locked on mine. I saw the pain and sadness that he kept hidden away so well in them. I saw a flicker of something unfamiliar. Something that I wanted to be a part of.
The space between our lips closed quickly. I felt my body becoming instantly warm. I felt like I was back at home.
My knees became jello as I felt his lips move against mine. I had never been kissed so… sensually before. I felt Loki's other hand wrap around my waist as he pulled me to him, sealing our bodies together. I was pushed against his cold armor, and I was dying to know what his body felt like underneath.
I moved my arms to link around his neck, letting myself relax in his embrace. I could feel the fireworks explode within my head and my body. This kiss awoke something primal in me, something I didn't know I had.
I let out an inadvertent moan from my lips, and felt my cheeks instantly blush. I nearly pulled away. This was so out of character for me. I've known this man for maybe a week, and I was already making out with him. I still wasn't sure he wasn't just a crazy person.
I felt his lips pull away from mine. He was still extremely close, and I realized how much I needed to breath. I didn't have much practice in the way of making out before. I'd have to work on that skill.
Loki leaned his forehead on mine and closed his eyes.
The only sound to be heard was our shallow breathing.
I felt a small smile grow on my lips, and when I opened my eyes to peek at him, he had a similar one.
"I have longed to do that, Miss Kingsley." Loki's silky voice graced my ears.
"Next time, don't wait so long." I shocked myself by saying. I wanted to move my hand to my mouth, but I couldn't let him go. I spoke from my heart inadvertently, and surprised myself by knowing the truth.
Loki's hand grazed my cheek sweetly, and I felt a grin grow on my lips. "Miss Kingsley, I brought you here to watch after my room, not to kiss in it."
"Well, then that's what my room will be for." I was surprised at how comfortable I was with this. I was also surprised at how quickly his feelings seemed to change for me. And mine for him. My teenage hormones were at an all time high.
Loki smiled at me. "You should probably clean something so my reason for keeping you is valid."
I pulled back and gave a sharp nod. I shouldn't mix business with pleasure. If that's what you could call it. So, I went to my room and located my broom and got to work.
