Percy
Percy took a deep breath before he knocked on Timber's door. No reply. Percy sighed and tried to open the door. It took a few seconds before the door budged and Percy heard a crackling noise.
He entered the room and saw that the door was covered in a layer of ice. To be honest, the entire room was. The only thing that wasn't completely covered was the figure sitting on the bed. Timber.
Percy walked over to her and sat down beside her on the bed, she didn't look up. Percy could see the tear stains and the red blotches on her face that told him she had been crying.
The two sat in silence for what seemed like forever. " Leo's fine. " Percy spoke up. " All he needed was a little bit of fire and warmth and he was good. " Timber still didn't look up.
" Hey, Timber? It's not your fault, okay? Jason was just upset when he said that. He didn't mean it. " Percy assured her. Timber shook her head. " I should've known, I never should have thought that we could - I knew I couldn't control - "
Timber began to choke up and tears began pouring down her face. " I just can't do this anymore! I can't keep having to stay away from certain people because I might hurt them! "
" Look, I know it's hard. " Percy said. " But things are going to get better, that's what we're here to do. We're on this quest to help you. So you don't have to try and conceal it. You can control it. You won't have to be afraid anymore. "
Timber wiped her nose. " Your right, thats what we're here to do. " Percy nodded. " And listen, you know how that frost was spreading around Leo's body? "
" Yeah, " Timber said. " Well, I don't think he was the only one. " Percy finnished. He gently took Timber's hands and turned them upright so her palms were showing.
On Timber's hands were horrible burn marks. Percy took a knife from his belt and began cutting off strips of his shirt and started wrapping them around Timber's hands. " Keep these, they'll help the burns and they might help you with the...well, you know. " he said.
Timber smiled. " Thanks, Percy. " Percy smiled back. " No problem, now I think you should go see Leo, he's really worried about you. He's in the infirmary. "
Timber nodded. " Okay, " and she left the room. Percy walked out into the hall on his way to the dining hall and while he did he passed the infirmary. He quietly peeked open the door a bit and peered inside.
Leo was laying in one of the beds while Timber sat of the edge of the bed. " ...really sorry. " Timber was saying. Leo smiled. " 'S'okay, it's not your fault. That kiss was doing pretty good until I had a spasm. "
Timber rolled her eyes, but she was grinning. " Yeah, well no more kisses for you Repair Boy until I make that sacrifice. After that I have something planned. " Timber gave a mischevious grin.
" What's that? " Leo asked. Timber leaned down close to his face, like she was about to kiss him, but instead she put a finger to his lips. " It's a surprise. " Leo raised an eyebrow. " Will I like this surprise? "
" Yes. "
Leo suddenly frowned. " Timber, do you already know what the sacrifice will be? " Timber bit her lip. " I have a couple idea's on what it might be, but none of them would be fun. I'm hoping the Fates will have me do something less...painful. "
" Me too. " Leo agreed. " I don't want you to have to do anything like last time. You nearly scared me to death. " Timber laughed. " I know, but you weren't the one who had to do it! " Leo stroked Timber hair and smiled. " I would've done it for you. "
" You wouldn't have been able to. " Timber told him. " And you can't do the sacrifice either, it has to be done by me. "
" Why not? Why can't I? " Leo demanded. " Leo, I don't like the idea of it either, but you have to trust me." Timber said. " I can do this. And I don't need anyones help. "
" I just want to protect you! " Leo said. " I don't need you to protect me! " Timber yelled. " I can take care of myself, okay? " Leo snorted. " Oh, and you were doing just fine on that island all by yourself! "
" I didn't ask for you to come and save me! " Timber shouted.
" Well maybe I shouldn't have! " Leo decided. " I didn't want to come go there in the first place! Maybe I should have just left you there to die! "
Timber didn't say anything after that, and Percy saw a tear slide down her cheek. Leo seemed to look like he just realized what he had said. " I didn't mean that. " he quickly said. " I promise you, Timber, I didn't. "
Silence was all that came from Timber. " Timber, I'm sorry! " Leo urged, grabbing her shoulders. " Look at me! " Timber slowly looked up at Leo. " I don't know where that came from. But it wasn't true, I'm glad we saved you and I would've killed myself if we just let you die. You mean the world to me Timber, and I'm not about to let you go. "
" It's okay. " Timber said. " I was wrong too, I do need your guy's help. I could never have done any of this without you. And I'm never letting you go. "
Leo smiled and started to lean his lips in towards Timber but she stopped him.
" Ah, ah, ah. " she chided. " Not yet. "
Percy had to resist the urge to laugh when he saw Leo's face. He quietly closed the door and continued down the hall.
Percy smiled to himself as he entered the dinning room. He was glad that the two were finnaly together.
