{Thank you so much for to 10K reads... wow it means so much to me!! never expected this fan fiction to get 10k... enjoy!!!xx}

Caroline guided me through one of the double white doors, which opened up to a large open kitchen. A marble counter was wrapped around the middle of the room, dividing it into two sections. The dining room and the actual kitchen. The large crystal chandelier hung above a dark oak dining table, which seated eight.

"The place is huge.." I muttered to Caroline, she nodded in agreement. I wondered how Caroline knew her way around the house so well, I shrugged it off when we entered into a clustered room. Hanging off the walls were multiple dresses, all different styles, and obviously all different centuries. Caroline shut the door behind us, a wide smile was plastered across her face and she scurries across the room. She pulled forth a long ballroom styled dress. The black silk fabric is beaded with white beads along the rim of the skirt. I shook my head turning down her offer,

"okay. Well, what style would you prefer? Keep in mind this is a ball, and not a highschool dance." She nodded at me.

"I wouldn't know what a highschool dance is." I muttered, Caroline gasps and her eyes widen.

"Okay, I know Rebekah hasn't been to a high school dance but, you, I would have never suspected!" Her blue eyes were wide in shock. I giggled and shook my head,

"nope." I smiled and took a seat on the white carpet. Caroline ended up picking out a dress I actually liked. She pushed me to try it on, and when I looked at myself in the mirror I was stunned. The black silk fabric hugged my curves perfectly, it flares out into a skirt at the bottom causing a dramatic effect, but not too dramatic. The silk was covered by a layer of lace, and the sweetheart neck line was beaded with white beads. The sleeves hugged my upper arms with a black fabric and I smiled widely.

"I love it!" I exclaimed happily. I admired the way my curves were magnified, allowing them to be more noticeable than usual.

"Yes!" Caroline jumped up then clapped her hands together happily.

"Good morning!" I heard Rebekah's voice flow through my ears, my eyes traveled to the doorway and there stood Rebekah. Her hand was hastily placed on her hip and her blonde hair was at the side curled into waves.

"Rebekah, get out!" Caroline scolded Rebekah and the original rolled her eyes.

"My house, my niece." She said before turning her eyes to me, "you look lovely darling." A smile spread across her face and I smiled back. "Niklaus has compelled towns people to set up the ball, I'm sure they could use your help Caroline." Rebekah nodded towards Caroline, Caroline rolled her eyes.

"I may be head of the dance committee, but I am not your servant. Klaus asked me to help Scarlette prepare, not pour liquor for the town." a gasp fell from Caroline's lips. "That's it!" She turned towards me.

"You can come to highschool!" The thought of highschool was nauseating but exciting at the exact same time. "I'm sure Bonnie would love the idea! And I'm sure everyone will love you, just don't say you're related to the queen bitch. The school may have your head."

A giggle broke from my lip and Rebekah glared at me, "excuse me! We're family here!"

"Family means nothing unless it means something to you, Rebekah." Caroline rolled her eyes, the hurt expression was replaced by a hard glare in Rebekah's eyes.

"Fine. I'm going to find Kol." She turned away and walked out the door.

I glanced at Caroline who was rolling her eyes after Rebekah had walked out. "God, I hate her," she sighs, "she only cares about herself."

"She didn't seem that back when I first met her," I shrugged, "she's just broken... I guess."

"Yes, but everyone is broken in some way. I lost my dad, Elena lost both of her parents... We literally live in sorrow around here, Rebekah has no right to treat us like we haven't been hurt before."

I turned towards Caroline thinking about her comment. She had a point, most of the people I had met were vampires and werewolves. Everyone had a background, everyone was hurt in someway... "You're right," I agreed and nodded, "in all the right ways." I shook my head, "Elena lost her parents?" I furrowed my eyebrows as I slipped off the dress.

"Yeah, and her aunt and uncle. Her parents were actually her adoptive parents, and she lost her real parents too. Jeremy, her brother, also died. But Bonnie, being all powerful, brought him back."

"Wow..." I muttered softly as I slipped on my pajamas. "That's... Really sad actually."

"Yeah... Elena's life, she's lost and broken. It's a literal hell hole, but some how the Salvatore's fixed that."

"You mean Damon?" I sighed crossing my arms over my ribcage.

"Damon is bad news, he's cruel and shows more mercy or remorse. Elena once loved Stefan, she still loves Stefan in my book. Damon just... Weaseled his way into her heart, and she can't shake him." I nodded at Caroline's comment, I knew exactly how Elena felt. No matter how much you wanted to push Damon away, no matter how hard you fought of the burning images and scenarios that you want to think of, he's still there.

"Are you saying there is nothing good about Damon?" I asked, hopeful to her answer.

"No. Damon does have a good bone in his body, but it's hooded by the bad. He's also broken... He's an idiot, an ass, and every other cruel word, but like I said... Everyone lives in sorrow here." I sighed gently and shook her head. "Sometimes, you just can't help but see the bad before the good."

I nodded and sighed again, "okay.. Well, what's next?" I asked gesturing towards the dress.

"What's next is hair, makeup. The ball starts at six and it's one thirty. We have some time to kill, and I just can't wait to curl that hair." She balled her fists gesturing for my hair. I laughed gently and shook my head. "But we're going to my house, Elena and Bonnie will be there to get ready also."

"Does Elena have to come?" I groaned softly as we emerged from the tiny room.

"Yes. A ball in Mystic Falls requires a member of each founder's family. Elena is a Gilbert, and it isn't like Jeremy will want to come." Caroline explained, "get dressed. Then we'll be off to my house."
