Recently, I had to make what has easily been the the hardest decision of my life.
Once you turn sixteen, you are expected to choose a faction where you are required to live in for the rest of your life. I was born into Candor, the faction that believes in truth. I always used to sit at home, in the traditional black and white Candor clothing, thinking how it would feel to be able to lie to those you hate. To only tell the truth to those you love and trust. I needed to break free. To start again; practically every Candor member knows the most embarrassing moments of my life.
It was the choosing ceremony. Names of those who had to make their choice were being announced, one by one.
"Victoria Sharp, Caleb Prior".
Time was going by quicker, and I couldn't keep up. Before my name was called, I had a quick recall of the factions and their values.
Amity- The faction for love and peace
Dauntless- The faction for bravery and courage
Erudite- The faction of knowledge
Candor- The faction for truth
Abnegation- The faction for selflessness, in "Faction Slang" they are known as the Stiff
Once it is your turn you have to cut your skin with a knife, and the blood on the knife will be poured into one of the five bowls of your choice; each five bowls representing each faction.
"Albert"
