"OKCUPID is okay." A tall blonde hummed out in thought as she curled a piece of her hair with her index finger. She was leaning over the counter of her friend, Rosemary, café.
"But Tinder is much more better." She finished off, pressing install on her friend's phone.
Rosemary rolled her eyes as she placed the lid on the mocha cup. Walking over to the cash register, she pushed her kitten, Toulouse, aside and placed the coffee down on the counter for the customer to grab.
"That'll be four ten." She smiled at the man.
"Keep the change." He nodded at her, handing her a five. With one last smile at the young kitten, he left the café.
With a sigh, she pushed her hair back and smiled at Toulouse. "Good job Lou."
"See, that man was around his late forties." The tall blonde pointed out, "You're never going to find love in this café of yours unless you're into older men."
With a short laugh, Rosemary walked towards her blonde haired friend and raised an eyebrow. "So what if I am Naia?"
With a disgusted look, Naia opened the app and shook her head. She knew Rosemary and she had no doubt that her friend might have said it as a joke but deep down she knew that Rosemary most likely meant that.
"The oldest you might be into is probably around five years older," Naia gave her friend a pointed look. "That guys has to be around twenty-nine years older than you. Old enough to be your dad for crying out loud!"
"The older the better." Was the response as she walked towards the teen girls to take their order.
Since the day Rosemary helped Naia get together with Andrew, Naia felt the need to help Rosemary get in a relationship of her own. The only difference was that Rosemary wasn't in a hurry to get in a relationship nor needed a boyfriend at the moment.
"Fuck," Naia sat straight up immediately, looking out the café's window. Her eyes following the two men walking by, one holding a dozen roses and she immediately eliminated that option. Her excitement grew more once she realized that they were walking in the café.
"Hot guys coming in." She rushed out the words to Rosemary who simply shrugged and continued making the coffee.
"May Toulouse greet them."
The bells chimed as the man without the roses opened the door. Walking in, the man with the roses heaved a sigh and walked towards Rosemary.
"I uh-" he began awkwardly, giving an annoyed glance to his friend. "Would like to donate the roses to this café. My friend said this café tends to decorate with roses and so." He looked down at the roses and pushed them towards Rosemary.
Scrunching her eyebrows together, Rosemary gave a slight smile and took them in her hands. "That's awfully kind of you, and your friend," she looked at his direction, "thank you."
Before he could say a simple you're welcome, he caught sight of the small white Ragdoll kitten and he let out a curse. "Fucking hell! Matt you never told me there's rats here, fuck."
Stepping back with a scowl on his face, he shooed the curious cat walking towards him.
"Excuse me?" Rosemary spoke up, placing the flowers aside. "Toulouse is not a rat."
"Well it's a runt." He retorts, turning and rubbing his temple. He knew he should have kept the roses, maybe to treat himself. Instead he listened to Matthew and decided to be charitable.
"Princeton." Warned Matthew, giving him a stern warning look.
"Look buddy, the only runt or rat in here is you so either step out or be respectful."
Rosemary was fuming in anger at this point. She hated when people walked in and disrespected others, especially her cat. To say the least, this man pushed all her buttons in a matter of minutes.
"Gladly, didn't want to come here to fucking begin with." Princeton snorted and made his way out.
It fell silent in the café. Matthew awkwardly rubbed his neck and he gave Rosemary an apologetic smile.
"Sorry about him, he just went through an awful breakup yesterday and-"
"On Valentine's Day? That's awful." Naia butted in with false sympathy.
Giving her a strange look, Matthew nodded. "Yeah, hence the flowers and all...thought it was a good idea to hand them out instead of throwing them out or just letting them die."
"He can have these back and give them to his mother." Rosemary grabbed the bouquet and stretched them out to Matthew.
"His mother is miles away, it's just..." Matthew trailed off, "not convenient?"
With a sigh, Rosemary looked at the roses and nodded. "Alright, thank you."
"Anytime, well I have to chase after asshole over there, have a good day." He gave Rosemary and Naia a polite nod and walked out the café.
Mumbling under her breath, Rosemary bend down to get a vase from under the counter and walked over to the sink to fill it with water so she can unravel the roses and cut them to the right size.
Naia watched thoughtfully as her friend fixed up the bouquet. Eyes landing on Toulouse, a swift smile decorated her face and she hummed in agreement with herself.
She has decided, Toulouse will play cupid for this one to work.
