FOR the past days Princeton has not heard the end of it. For some unknown reason Matthew felt the need to remind him how much of an asshole he was and how he should have apologized.
"I just got dumped in the worst possible way that doesn't involve cheating," Princeton began, looking at his friend with an annoyed look, "and you won't let me live down the day I was in a sour mood."
"If the cat wasn't there then you wouldn't have been such an ass." Matthew pointed out, reverting his attention to the piece of paper which had instructions on putting a table together.
Princeton looked at his friend with a slight distant glint in his eye. Now this actually made his mood sour. He doesn't want to sound bitter, of course not, he's actually quite happy for his friend. I mean, it's not his friends fault that he's moving in with his girlfriend of five years and Princeton gets dumped on Valentines.
He could see the excitement radiating off his friend and although it was a beautiful thing to see, he was jealous. Also, scrolling through social media and seeing pictures of his old classmates in a content relationships didn't make it better.
"Man, you're so stuck on love." Matt snapped him out of his thoughts.
Princeton opened his mouth with a remark but then immediately shut it. He wasn't trying to sound like a wimp or hopeless.
"I have a lot of feelings that's all."
A burst of laughter came out of Matt and Princeton sat there like a kicked puppy.
"Fuck you man." He shook his head and got off the stool, grabbing his gym bag and throwing it over his shoulder.
"Aw come on Prince! Lighten up." Matt chuckled, putting one of the tables leg down as he stood up. He walked towards Princeton and gave him a pat on the back. "You'll find someone, stop mopping around."
With one last annoyed glance, Princeton made his way out of his friends apartment. He hoped people would go easy on him but instead the week was more rough than he expected. Opening the backseat door of his car, he tossed the gym bag inside and made his way to the drivers side.
Once he was in, he leaned back on the seat and ran his hand through his hair. No one had the guts to tell him straight, but he was acting like a girl. Which he couldn't really understand, don't men get to be upset after a break up? The sound of binge watching and eating junk food for a month straight sounded like heaven to him at the moment.
He sighed and closed his eyes, he always hoped heartbreak wasn't this painful but at the same time he never quite expected for heartbreak to kick his door open and make itself at home.
