Story by Lucciaric

I was younger then. About 8 or 9. It was weird and scary and nothing ever made sense. My father was a pilot and my mom was a nurse. My brother was a soldier and I was in school learning to fly. There weren't many kids my age in the program. Especially since it was meant for the best of the best in target practice and eyesore training. I was put through rough training sections with older boys twice my age when I competed for the spot. Their skills were nothing compared to mine. My shots never missed and my eyes never faltered. I kept my eyes on the prize and that was all.

I remember it like it was yesterday. The humidity in the artificial town had increased so the people would feel more like a real community. The fake sun glistened on the dome roof  and the blue and white holograms glitches every once in a wile. My father had been taking a day off to be with me and my brother, Andrew. He was 15 and was getting ready to join the Days of Tomorrow Legion. It was the best legion in the army. He was also the youngest to be accepted. I remember I had found a pink ribbon on a tree outside the city. It glistened and swayed so I grabbed it and ran to the outpost to find a knife or something to defend myself if it was a trap. Nothing happened so I slipped it in my pocket and went to the airfield. Only the soon to be pilots were allowed outside the city. A few of the older boys were on patrol and saluted me and I skipped by. I bowed my head and kept going. I had realized later that the reason they bowed was because they were new and I was about to graduate as the youngest ever.

I changed from my uniform into my overalls and yellow sweater and converse that I had found outside and started to sprint home.  I got to my home and found my dads bike parked in shake. I walked inside and he called to me in a deep voice. "Ahhhhh my little girl. Were you on patrol today."
"No sir. I was exploring the rims of the outer defensive areas and examining the fleet sir."
"That's my girl. Hey your graduating in a few days right?"
"Yes sir. I'll be the youngest to graduate and the 5th out of 30 in my class, sir."
"Very good, very good. I think your going to enjoy all the places your going to see."
"Like where sir."
"Well there are tons of camps of other armies. But most of them don't know about others and there are some city's over run by Ghosts but my favorite is the Central."
"Where is the Central sir."
"Well it's far far away. I hope you see it someday."
"I do too." He let me go to my room and I jumped on my cot. My brothers side of the room was filled with books on combat and drawing plans on combat training. My side was just filled with junk on stuff I found outside and a small bookshelf of some books I found in the run down houses in the dead zone of the world where I train. I let my head hit the pillow as I hear the speakers from outside say in a soft robotic voice "11:00 PM lights out." My mind started to wander as I thought of a world full of more adventure and excitement that I dozed off and dreamt of flying in the air with my dad when I was younger.
