"Life's too short to worry"

I heard that continuous beep in my ear. That sound was awfully familiar to me. Especially with my grandfather as a kid. Seeing him in the hospital multiple times again for medical conditions. That very sound that is now relaying my vital signs and not my grandfather's. I didn't move. I didn't open my eyes. I just laid there, getting use to the continuous and rythmic beeping. There was the dry, sterile smell of a hospital. The only other sounds I hear are multiple footsteps and faint flipping of paper and chatting, and then some doctor being called to some other wing of the hospital occasionally. There was warm medical blankets covering me, I could tell because I was warm, except for my arms, which were goose bumped from the frigid hospital air. The only warmth on my arm was on my hand, it was kind of sweaty as well. There was a soft flesh in my hand and it was sensationally perfect and okay for it to be there. I breathed in heavily and within doing so I smelled a very familiar sent of lavender and lilac and that faint fruity perfume that I love to smell so much.
I couldn't sit there unmoved anymore, so I stretched and that made the soft skin on my hand slide off, hearing it hit the medical bed with a faint thud. Opening my eyes the first thing my sight locks onto is the blonde beauty rubbing her eyes and yawning softly. A small smile found its way into my face. Her hands moved away and there she was looking at me with a lazy smile. The dark circles around her eyes suggested she was tired as hell and her eyes had trouble staying open. "Hey... You're awake..." Clarke rasped with a yawn following after.
I couldn't help but laugh lightly, even though it hurt a bit. "Hey yourself, you look tired." Next thing I noticed was her head propped up by her arm and her snoring lightly. "Clarke?!" I hollered and just like a that she shot up. "You are really tired, aren't you."
Clarke rubbed her face and looked at me lazily. Her voice was slow and sleepy. "Being unable to sleep for three days straight will have it's affects... How you feeling?"
To be honest, I didn't realize I had anything to feel until about a minute ago. My abdomen was killing me. The pain surged and webbed its way into my back and furthermore. I grumbled from the pain, remembering why I was here. "Like I'd been shot." I chuckled trying to joke, but Clarke didn't find it funny, whether she was too tired, or it was just too serious of a matter, I didn't know until she spoke.
"I don't find that very amusing Lexa... You did get shot, and it's the truth of this situation." She tried to frown and glare at me, but it was all to funny, since she looked like grumpy cat. My laughter would have filled the room, but a couple chuckles just pained me. "Why are you laughing?" She crossed her arms and it just made it even more hilarious.
I bit my tongue so that I wouldn't laugh. "You're right, it's not funny, I'm sorry." I scooted over some, ignoring my pain, even though it was hard to ignore since it was a really uncomfortably pinching sensation. I was patting the space beside me as I spoke. "Come on, babe, get in bed with me."
Clarke started shaking her head. "I don't wanna hurt you."
"Nonsense, come on, you won't." I grabbed her hand and pulled slightly and she accepted that I wouldn't let it slide. Clarke cautiously got in the bed and wrapped her arms around me slowly, not wanting to hurt me. She laid her head on my chest and my arm wrapped around her, my hand playing with her hair. It didn't take long for her breathing to even out and light snores to come from her. I chuckled lightly hearing it. She must have been tired.
I couldn't help but watch her sleep. She was so cute asleep. She had her mouth slightly ajar and her face was soft and free from any emotion that could distort her face, in beautiful different ways of course. Hell, when she got angry at me I thought it was the cutest thing in the world. It's probably why she was confused when I smiled at her while she glared and furrowed her eyebrows then propped her hands on her hips. It's probably one of the reasons why we can't stay angry at each other for long. By then we would both be smiling and Clarke would be on my lap kissing me.
