He takes a step towards the bed, sitting down on it gently, watching her hair fall off of her shoulder and onto where the mattress dipped down around him. Fuck, she looked beautiful. That’s so shitty and cheesy, but it’s all that was on his mind.
A little snore came out of soohyun’s mouth when he shook her shoulder, watching and waiting for her to magically move over and look up at him. It didn’t happen. She rolled over and mumbled to herself, something explicit, and turn her back to him, wrapping herself around the pillow she hugged to her chest.
“Hey, wake up, baby.” Baby? Did I really just call her that? Another few mumbles came out of her mouth, until her eyes squinted open and she shifted over to face him.
“We have a half hour until the others wake up. I couldn’t go back to sleep…” Now was that so hard?
“Aw,” she laugh quietly, wrapping herself up in the blanket and facing him, worried about her pajama shirt being maybe a little too far down.“Do you not want your mom to always be crowding us?”
He laughs, the weight on his chest lifting up slightly, making him grin.“I could do without that today.” He lifts his legs up so that he’s sitting in front of her on the bed, kissing her forehead as she greets him with a small ‘good morning’.
The covers were pulled aside to make room for him to lie down next to her, snuggling against his chest. He gently twisted her hair around his fingers, smiling to himself. As much as he tried to keep a bored expression on his face, the smile on it wouldn’t go away. He didn’t want to make it obvious that he never wanted to get up from the bed with her.
Forever and ever he could stay with her. Everything around him was warm and comforting, the soft blankets snugly wrapped around his shoulders. She was yawning quietly and wrapping her arms around his shoulders. God, he wanted to kiss her badly.
“Are you feeling okay? Why couldn’t you sleep, Tae?” She asks quietly, looking up to meet his eyes.
“I was just thinking about everything. About you.” He admitted, not meeting her eyes. Without even looking at her, he knew exactly what she did. As always, she looked down at her toes and giggled quietly, trying not to let him see her smile.
It was clear then that it wasn’t the room that had changed at all, it was the people in it. Now, the situation was different. Usually, after living in the same house for months, he’d be sitting in his room thinking about how she was so close but felt so far away. He’d be staring out the window being all emo, wishing that he could shove his pride away and go and kiss her.
Things have changed. Maybe the room is still pink and polk-a-dotted, but there’s no longer just a girl lying in the bed, a little high-schooler doing her homework and doing her best. There was an engaged couple, in love with each other, just trying their best to make sure their future is with the other one by their side.
Now it was clear. There were two college students, two adults, making their own decisions. They can push their pride aside and admit that they’re in love. Now they’re free.
Together they stand up, a kiss placed on her forehead, and make their way down the stairs, careful not to wake their family members.
“I’ll make the eggs.”
He gets out pots and pans while he listens to her sing little bits of songs that are simultaneously stuck in her head. All that he can do is laugh and enjoy the morning, they only have a little while longer until the others come downstairs to disturb the peace.
She stands in the doorway, singing into the wooden spoon and pointing at the invisible crowd in front of her. Even though it had to be bad, nothing stopped her, and nothing stopped Taehyung’s laughter.
The back of her head softly hit the doorframe behind her as he pressed her back against it. Slowly, his face came down to meet hers, pressing his lips against hers softly.
Her hands trailed up his chest and wrapped around him as best as they could, so he repositioned his lips and kissed her again, his long arms wrapped around her and pulling her body up against his, always wanting to be closer.
His arms went up to her shoulders, wrapping over her shoulders and meeting behind her back, pulling her chest against his so that he could get a better angle. When two fingers slip behind her ear, his thumb holding her in place, a smile came up to her face.
It was contagious. Every time that she smiled, he did too, a little laugh bubbling up from his throat.“What are you laughing about, huh?” He says gently, poking her sides, his face still near hers. Even while he talked to her, his gaze was always fixated on her lips.
“We’re getting married, aren’t we?” When the words leave her mouth, they’re said as if she truly can’t believe them, as if they’re all that she wants to hear, but they’re still unbelievable.
That brings a smile to his face, the corners of his mouth pulling up without his control, his cheeks heating up as he laughs to cover up the fact that he’s completely delighted. He cranes his neck downwards so that he can reach her lips again, just barely touching them before he gives a little laugh.
“I am going to make you mine.” And they meet again, their bodies pressed together as close as they can get, his hands steadying her as she leans against the wall, their lips intertwining. It was just repeating over an dover again in his head like a blessing.
I’m in love with her.
There was no control in this situation. All that he had under his power was his lips and hers, the only option here was to just kiss her. To show her how he felt. No ring on a finger could possibly show how much he wanted to be with her, to be alive in her arms. To live with her forever. She was his way of life.
