Signe, Amy, Ethan, and Tyler walked ahead of Jack and Nate, whom was still a little unsteady on his feet.
"That song you sang earlier, Boulevard of Broken Dreams...it sounded absolutely beautiful." Jack complimented Nate. The others murmured their agreements while Nate's face blushed a light red hue, humbled.
"Thanks." He said softly with a smile.
"The city seemed too quiet with everyone gone, so I would make music to kind of distract me from everything going wrong in the world." He continued, looking down at his feet.
"We should all sing something!" Ethan suggested excitedly.
"What's a song you guys know?" Nate glanced around at the group.
"Don't Stop Believing!" Jack yelled, earning a laugh from Nate.
"Amy and Signe can sing the girl part and we'll sing the guys part.." Nate cleared his throat, adjusting his guitar before strumming his guitar once more.
"Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world,
She took the midnight train going anywhere,"Amy and Signe sang, their voices in unison.
"Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit,
He took the midnight train going anywhere,"Nate's voice created harmony with Tyler's deep voice as well as Jack and Ethan's higher pitched voices.
"Streetlights, people, living just to find emotion,
Hiding, somewhere in the night!"Jack's and Ethan's voices cracked during the last note, but no one really cared.
"Don't stop, believing!" Jack instinctively took Nate's mic he had stored in his pocket out and sang into it like a rock star.
Abruptly Nate froze and he stopped playing his guitar, staring at the object in Jack's hand as if he was holding a gun and pointing it at him. The others glanced back to see if he was okay and noticed what he was looking at.
"I-I meant to give this to you sooner, but..." Jack trailed off, offering Nate the mic with an apologetic smile.
"I never had the courage to look through-" Nate swallowed hard, gently taking the mic and turning it over in his hands, tracing his finger across the duct tape.
"Thank you." He whispered, barely audible.
It only took a couple of moments before everyone started singing again and Nate was back to playing guitar, laughing as they messed up pitches or words.
Only they didn't know they weren't alone.
A lone figure was following them, being cautious to stay out of sight. For now. He could be patient for a couple more hours.
Soon enough, Nate, Jack, Tyler, Ethan, Amy, and Signe arrived at the crash site, the wreckage now a smoldering husk.
No one was there.
"It feels like we're in Outlast Two." Jack shuddered, remembering the gruesome horror game.
"All that's missing is a monster. That's probably what you're thinking, right?" The lone figure that had been following them finally revealed their self.
