I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off.  I groan sitting up and making my way to the shower. I strip and get in, letting the hot  water wash over me. After I get done showering, I quickly slip on an outfit.

I brush my teeth and hair and make my way downstairs. I grab an apple and head out.

Once at school, I notice a small crowd of kids huddle near someone's car. I continue towards the building as I slip a piece of gum into my mouth. Sam catches me at the door. "Hey, can you believe that crowd? All over a boy. An annoying one at that." I scoff. "Yeah, it's pretty stupid. But I gotta make some rounds, catch ya in a bit?" Sam nods. "Yeah, sure." I smile and rushing into the busy school building. I first head to the girls bathroom.

"On time, like always." Jess smiles. I slip off my bag and open it, grabbing an eighth and handing it to her. She hands me $50 as I turn to the next girl, Maddie. I exchange the same with her and a couple others, already making $200. I slip the money in my back pocket and sling my bag over my shoulder and heading to my next stop.

After making all my morning rounds, I made almost $700. Today was a good day and it was only going to get better this afternoon when all my older customers come through.

I slip a $50 bill into my back pocket after the bell rang. I made my way to my locker and discretely took out the money and slipped it into my cash box after unlocking it with the key around my neck. I made sure all my dope that was left in my bag was concealed inside the little compartment I had made myself and everything smelt okay. I glanced around before spraying my bag and myself with perfume, just in case.

I grab my books and head to English.

Carl wasn't in any of my classes so far. I was beginning to become more and more curious. Who was this boy? Why did everyone make him such a big deal? What is he going to say when he finds out I took his customers? My mind continued to race as I grabbed my lunch and sat down next to Sam.

"Hey Bellaaaa." She says, dragging out the "a". I take a bite of my apple before responding. "Hey." I take another bite. "So, you see Carl yet?" I shake my head.

"Nope. Why does everyone seem to make him such a big deal? He's just a person. And honestly he can't be that "bad ass" if he got caught. I mean, if you're gonna claim to be the baddest kid in school you have to be good at what you do and being good includes not getting caught."

Sam's eyes widen and I can feel a presence behind me. I turn around, the apple still in my hand.

"I didn't get caught," the voice was low and intimidating. I already knew who it was just by the look on Sam's face.

Carl stood behind me, a pissed look on his face.  Next to him stood a huge scary black guy.

"My runner did." Carl continues, making direct eye contact with me.

"He snitched. I handled him though."

I plopped my apple down on my tray. I knew I had to say something back, I had a reputation to keep. I had to let him know I wasn't weak.

"Sounds like you should maybe invest in some new runners or maybe none at all, make more money without them. It's easier doing it yourself. Smart people who were good at what they do would know that, I wouldn't expect you to understand."

Everyone snickered, even the guy next to him. Carl's hands clenched into fists. I smirked then stood up, inches away from him. "Don't see what all the hype is about honestly. A washed up wanna be thug making $20 a day isn't that big of deal. Have a nice day Gallagher."
