Chapter 14

Seth walked up his front steps, coming to a stop on the last step. All the sudden he felt tired, very tired. He had walked around all day trying to figure out what was going on, why his mind was turning chaotic. His emotions were running rapid lately. He had never felt so torn on what to do, as a demon he knew his purpose, though it was dark, it was still a purpose. His mortal days were living in constant fear, But being here now with Nova, changed everything. She was changing him he finally realized. She made him feel hope. And hope was a dangerous thing. God I'm turning into such a girl...

As he turned the door knob the sound of talking intruding his thoughts. A high pitched feminine laugh floated in the air as he entered his cabin. What he saw cleared all his previous grief, as his mouth dropped at the sight of Camael, Briathos and Sarina lounging on his couch. What the hell?

Their laughter died when Seth entered the room, each turned their head, watching his confusion with mixed expressions. Camael looked highly amused at his speechlessness, Briathos had a look of total contempt, and Sarina... she just watched with interest. Nova's sister is sitting here with two powerful angels , his mind boggled, the more important question was why she was so relaxed?

"Do come in Samuel" Briathos slurred his real name with complete disdain, "Don't stand there like a total idiot."

Seth narrowed his eyes at the offending angel, "I don't recall inviting your 'highness' to my cabin, why don't you just puff somewhere else, I know some particular people need your guidance... the place might be a little hot though.."

"Oh please, you pathetic excuse for a demon.." Briathos rolled her eyes, "You don't invite me anywhere, I would not come. He invited me" She said gesturing toward Camael.

"It's true" Camael didn't even have the sense to look remorseful. Seth grumbled about smart ass angels as he sat down in a nearby chair.

"There you go lord of the domain.." Briathos said as she used her powers to create a ottoman, shoving it under his feet.

"Ahh, that's nice" Seth returned dramatically, pretending she hadn't hurt his shins. His eyes searching there expressions lingering on Sarina's face. She just smiled back at him. Something is going on he realized, she was acting weird. She hates him. Why is she smiling at him? Are they planning his immanent death?

As he watched Briathos face turn calculating he realized something far more sinister was going on. Oh Gods, It's the apocalypse. She was considering helping him somehow. Just as he opened his mouth to order them to leave, Camael interrupted him.

"We realize your dilemma Seth" Camael looked Seth straight in the eyes.

"My dilemma?" Seth's mind spun, he didn't have a dilemma. Well, none that was their business anyway.

"Ah, yes the dilemma" Briathos smiled as evil as a angel could get. Which kind of freaked Seth out a little more. Him and this angel had a long history of disputes, apparently even worse now that he had threatened one of her charges. Why would Camael betray him and bring her here? He looked over at Camael with promised retribution, Paybacks a bitch . He forced the threat into Camael's mind. Camael only answer was to smile back at him.

"You see Seth," Sarina tried to keep the conversation going, oblivious to those around her, "I happen to love my sister. She is a good person. She doesn't deserve the fate you have forced her into."

What!? He almost jumped out of his seat with indignation. His eyes flew to her face, then glared at the others, taking a calming breath to control himself he asked, "And what fate have I condemned her to?"

"She knows that you are leaving soon" Camael interjected his eyes gleaming, before Sarina could answer. She knows not of the bet Camael whispered in Seth's mind.
