chapter 3 | seokjin
-
smoothing out his apron, seokjin leaned against the counter, his head resting on both his hands.
he was starting to worry, he hadn't seen namjoon around for about a week.
yes, it was rather stupid that he was worrying because after all, namjoon wasn't exactly a friend, just a really blunt acquaintance but that didn't mean he didn't care.
"seokjin hyung?"
the brunette whipped his head to the direction of the voice only to see the newest employee jungkook stood there, a piece of paper clutched in his hand and a nervous smile present on his face.
"what's up?" seokjin breathes, a signal for the boy to answer.
"a customer left this for you, i don't know what it is though," jungkook frowns down at the white paper, "i think it's a tip or something." the younger then proceeds to shove the paper into seokjin's hand.
seokjin just ruffles jungkook's hair and lightly pushes him to the direction of the kitchen where the younger's name was being called; probably just to help clean the cutlery.
chestnut brown strands of hair loop around seokjin's fingers as he entangled them in the soft threads, fiddling with the corner of the white paper.
removing his hand from his hair, he unfolds the note delicately in case it was a customer review or something related to the restaurant.
if he was rough and teared it, then his mother wouldn't be too pleased as she wouldn't be able to read it properly.
smoothing out the paper the first thing he noticed was the messy handwriting, it was most likely written in a hurry but he paid no attention and actually read the content this time.
❝ seokjin,
the first couple of times i have screwed over my words but please let me make it up to you let me know when you're next free so i can treat you to coffee text me - [**/******]
- namjoon ❞
seokjin smiled to himself, this boy really was something.
he added the number to his phone and sent a quick text letting namjoon know when his break was, he had never really been out properly on a date.
if this even was going to be remotely like a date.
seokjin knew that it was most likely wishful thinking and namjoon was only trying to be friendly, but a small nagging voice at the back of his head sincerely hoped that he had finally got asked out.
-
"are you ready to go?"
snapping seokjin out of a daydream his eyes laid upon namjoon who was next to the counter, his lanky frame using it to stay steady.
"oh! yeah i'm ready to leave, i just need to go and remind my parents that i'm taking my break a little earlier today."
it was a lie, all he really wanted to go do was smooth out his hair and fix his clothes in the rather small bathroom.
seokjin's mother already knew he was taking an early break, the poor boy stuttered over his words explaining the reason behind wanting to take his break way earlier than usual. she just smiled to herself and hit her son's shoulders with the kitchen towel.
"have fun on your date." She'd winked and continued tending to the food, Jungkook's snorts filling the silence from where he stood drying a dish.
he stared at the reflection that stared at him in the mirror as he let out a sigh. "you can do this Seokjin, it's just a couple of friends getting coffee, nothing big."
calm and collected, he stepped back into namjoon's view and took his apron off, bundling it underneath the counter before offering a shy smile to the younger.
he was never like this, he was normally confident and outgoing but there was just something about namjoon that made him feel rather shy and the constant blushing didn't help him mask it at all.
"let's go."

the two males sat at a circular table in the back of a small railway café. namjoon had explained that he needed to get to work straight after this therefore the closest one was a café inside of the train station.
it was very busy, a lot of people rushing in and out grabbing drinks for their trip or to keep them awake whilst they waited for their train.
They were lucky enough to get a table for two.
"i have no idea how you drink that." seokjin laughed, gazing at the black coffee namjoon was currently taking weary sips at.
"oh this? i need it in order to get me through the day without falling asleep, i hardly get any sleep." that statement resulted in seokjin scolding the other for not getting the correct amount of hours.
seokjin softened at namjoon's guilty expression, "i know you like to help people but please take care of yourself too."
namjoon mused smiling over at the elder's pretty face, "i will, for you."
chatting amongst themselves, the shared smiles and laughs before namjoon's phone starts to beep.
"ah, my train is due in five, i'm sorry seokjin hyung but i gotta cut our date short." namjoon couldn't even process what he had just said so he tried to brush it off with rambling.
seokjin just stood there, his cheeks tainted pink, "i had fun while it lasted."
namjoon simply smiled, "me too." He then leaned over to press a kiss to seokjin's cheek before bidding his farewell and leaving the café in a hurry muttering an apology to a person he had bumped into.
the elder just sat there, his pink lips turned upwards and his cheeks rosy red.
he couldn't pinpoint the feeling but he defiantly liked it and he hoped it would return soon.
