It's been two weeks since I last saw Embry. He's been ignoring me ever since he ran out on us. Bella's not doing any better, although her screams aren't as loud as they used to be. Dad's very worried, he doesn't know what to do. Yesterday he said he was going to send Bella back to mom, to see if that'll help her. But she doesn't want to leave.I stood by my window, watching the rain slowly fall down. The door slams shut, making me jump. Loud footsteps pound on the stairs, coming up quickly. Bella enters my room, out of breath.
"I'm going down to La Push, wanna come?"

Bella parks her truck at the Black resident, quickly running to the door. Billy answers, saying something, but Bella rushes past him. I give him an apologetic smile, not knowing what Bella's doing. She comes back outside, muttering an apology before heading back to her truck. Loud laughter diverts her attention, and she runs to the group of guys it belongs to. Catching up, I only hear part of her conversation with one the guys.
"What did we do? What did he do? What'd he tell you?" He spits out, his body slightly shaking. I turn my head and freeze. Standing only s couple feet in front of me, is Embry. Only, it's not. He's grown at least a foot, his hair is cut short, his muscles have grown, and a tribal tattoo rests on his right bicep. He meets my eyes, tensing up as a dazed look comes into his eyes. I know I shouldn't, I'm mad at him, but I can't help but to stare back. It's like it's only the two of us, everything else fades away. Nothing else seems to matter.
A loud slap brings me back to reality. I hear someone yell at me, but I don't register what they say. The guy begins to shake violently, steam practically comes from his body. Bella yanks me out of the way, taking a couple steps back. The boy's body morphs, shifting into a giant wolf. Again, I freeze, only this time out of complete and utter terror.
Bella runs, dragging me with her. I hear her yell out to someone, but I don't know who. My knees give out, my body falling to the ground. I see Jake turn into a wolf, and him and the other one begin fighting. My body trembles, my breath quickening. Bella kneels in front of me, but I can't focus on her, all I see are patches of grey and black. Someone picks me up and sets me down in Bella's truck. A hand touches my cheek, softly turning my face.
"Luce. Luce, focus on me okay? Focus on my voice." Embry says. I feel him grab my hand, placing it over his heart. "Focus on my heart beating. Come on, Luce." In a couple of minutes my breath goes back to normal and my eyesight returns. The truck stops at a cute little house. Embry jumps out, running over to open my door. I mutter a small 'thank you', still angry at him. "This is Emily and Sam's place."
"By the way, don't stare, Sam hates it." The other boy, Jared, says. Bella and I share a confused look, her coming over and grabbing my hand. Entering the house, we see a women standing in the kitchen. She turns around, and I know why Jared said not to stare. Three scratch marks cover the right side of her face, leaving her face in a permanent frown. I quickly look away, my eyes surveying the rest of the house.
"So, you're the vampire girl." She says. I pause and the others go quiet. Embry, Jared, and Bella give her looks. "What?"
"She doesn't know." Bella replies, pointing at me. My breath starts to quicken again.
"Vampires?" Embry rushes over, helping me calm down. He grabs my hand, leading me into the backyard. He finds a bench and sits down on it, pulling me next to him. Neither of us say anything for a while, me still processing the past half hour.
"Luce? You okay?" I scoff.
"Am I okay? Really? That's your first question?" My voice raises. "Embry, what the hell just happened?" He sighs and grabs my hand, rubbing circles into it.
"Remember the stories Billy would tell us when we'd stay the night over there? Well, they're true. I can shift into a wolf, so can Sam, Jared, Jake, this guy Paul, he's the one you first saw. Quil will be able to eventually as well." My minds spins with this information, still trying to believe it.
"Emily said something about vampires? They exist?"
"Yes, we call them the cold ones."
"Are there any here, in Forks?" He nods. "Who?"
"The Cullens."
"Bella knew and she still dated Edward?" He nods again.
"There's something else. There's this thing wolfs do, it's called imprinting. It's like, finding your soul mate. When you see them, it's only you two, nothing else matters. It's not gravity holding you to the earth, it's her. She's all you care about. You'd do anything to make her happy. Be anything. A friend, a brother, a protector, a lover. Anything she wants." He pauses, grabbing my other hand, looking me in the eyes. "That's you."
