"Of course." He replies kindly.

Of course the compliment makes my face burn up. I've never had anyone say something like that to me. I try to hide my tomato red face. I now feel awkward with my arm locked with Millard's and trying to look away from him at the same time.

We walk on the damp sand that sinks, leaving our foot prints along the beach. We are silent for a few moments and the air feels a little tense.

"So, what do you like?" I ask, to change the subject. I probably make a strange facial expression during the process.

"There's not much interesting things about me." He replies.

I can't help but laugh from the absurd statement.
"Says the invisible boy." I say through laughter.

He chuckles. "Other than that."

"Alright, how about this. I'll ask a question and then you ask one. Deal?" I offer my idea hoping it will satisfy both our curious minds.

"Sounds ideal." He says intrigued.
"You first." He says.

"What's your favorite thing to do here?" I ask my first question.

"Easy, recording all the events that take place on this island. You surprisingly learn quite a bit from it." He responds quickly. "Now my turn." He says before pausing.

"What are your hobbies?" He questions as we come up to a sharp turn.

"Umm" I think back for a moment. What are my hobbies?

"I'm quite the board game player. I'm not sure if you can call that a hobby though." I answer.

"We will have to play each other in chess." Millard says sounding a little excited.

"Dream destination?" I ask soon after.

Millard is silent. I wait for a moment, waiting for his answer but, he didn't seem want to answer.

"Millard?" I ask uneasily.

"Sorry." He responds while sighing. "That question really got me thinking. I've always wanted to travel somewhere but, obviously incapable. The thought comes through my mind almost everyday." He responds.

"Me too." I admit. "I would always stare out into the ocean, wondering if I could ever visit France or scottland ." I add but, I realize that I'm probably not making the situation better.

"Maybe even London." He adds. "I'm glad that Miss Peregrine is protecting us and I love her but, I would love to leave this island." He says with a moderate tone.

"As Miss Ibis always said, anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it." I say as I smiling towards him. I can't tell but, I feel that he is smiling as well.

I take my arm away from Millard's and walk closer to the water, letting it wash over my feet. I stare off to the horizon like I always do. The memories of home flood in once again. I just want to forget that place all together but, I don't at the same time. Which makes me feel worse every time. I sigh and kick at the water. Every swing of my foot becomes more forceful the worse I feel.

"I would appreciate it if you could stop kicking water onto me." I hear behind me. That's when I see Millard soaking wet from the waist down.

I cover my mouth with my hand, hinting the smile that wants to show. "I'm so sorry." I say, hoping he will actually forgive me.

Without a word Millard kicks water at me. I stand there freezing for a moment and slightly shocked. Though I haven't known Millard that long I didn't expect him to do it. I begin to laugh. "You asked for it." I say with a slight smirk.
