Disappointment surrounded us, as we entered my house. The entire town is deserted, we checked almost every building and there was nothing. Not a single other person. No one to give us answers. No one to help us. No one.
I stared out the kitchen window at the star filled sky. 'No adults. No other kids. No animals. Why?' questions continued to run through my head, slowly giving me a headache.
"Oi! You okay Raegan?" Carter's voice was riddled with concern. I tilted my head so that I was facing Carter.
"Yeah I'm fine." I reassured him. 'I knew that today was going to be a bad day, but I never thought that it would be this bad'. I swiftly exited the kitchen. "You can sleep in the spare room. Upstairs third door on the left." My voice went cold as I met the stairs; slowly shuffling up each step.
I slowly entered my room. My body crashed onto my bed. "Where is everyone?" I whispered, "Mum, Dad where are you?" I closed my heavy eyelids; my words acting as a lullaby.
Darkness shrouded me, making an uneasy feeling surface in my stomach.
~In Reagan's Dream~
"You never spend time with me!" I screamed. My words echoed throughout the room, slowly my voice faded. "I wish you would just DISAPPEAR!" Once again, my voice echoed.
"We're sorry..." A soft voice rang in my ears. Slowly the room around me faded, and I was left standing in a white abyss. Alone. Completely alone.
'Alone.' Repeated, the direction of the voice changed every time the word was said. Slowly the voice became faster, until there wasn't a single moment of silence. I fell to my knees, covering my ears.
"Stop! Stop! Just stop!" I screamed; silence followed my words. My eyes cautiously opened revealing the now black abyss.
"You're alone, because of you." Whispered a soft voice. My head jolted to the side, as a figure with red eyes raced towards me. I jumped onto my feet, trying to run, but there was something holding me to the ground. I looked down and saw my parents grasping my ankles.
"Now it's your turn to disappear." They exclaimed in unison, their voices sounded digitalised and out of place.
~End of Dream~
"No!" I shrieked, my body trembled with fear; sweat dripped from every pore in my body. A heavy chest made my breathes short and deep. I heaved another short breath; my hand balled into a fist over my right eye. Slowly tears began staining my cheeks.
"Raegan?!" Carter called, bursting through my door, scaring me half to death. The sudden scare jolted me out of my little fit.
"Yeah. I am." I answered simply, instantly calming Carter. I effortlessly got out of my bed and walked towards Carter. We were both still in our clothes from yesterday, there just didn't seem to be a point in changing clothes, especially with everything that happened.
"Good, because I think I saw someone outside about 10 minutes ago." Carter smiled triumphantly; punching the air. My face morphed into one of awe, instantly I raced out my door, down the stairs and through the front door before I realised that I needed Carter to show me which way they went. 'Maybe this is why people say I'm impulsive?' I questioned myself, patiently waiting for Carter the sloth.
My head turned once the sound of a closing door echoed throughout the open space. "You're looking the wrong way, the person went that way." Carter pointed in the opposite direction my body was facing. 'Shoot!' I turned and began walking in the right direction, closely followed by Carter.
"I wonder why they are heading to town?" I asked openly.
"Probably to get food or to look for other people." A subtle hint of pride still remained in his voice. My pace slowly sped up when I noticed an ominous figure in the distance. Carter took notice of my speed walking and began to match my pace.
"The person is in town. I can see them." Relief devoured my statement.
"Why don't we just run up to them? That is what I did with you." Carter suggested.
"And I ran away, fearing for my life." I added, quickly making my pace faster so I was lightly jogging. Once again Carter matched my speed.
Within 5 minutes we were in town. The person was now directly in front of us. 'Finally, another person' I cheered internally. I squinted at the person quickly taking in all their physical features. Long slender legs that added quite a bit of height, which was complimented by their slender figure.
The person was wearing a tightly fit black hoodie and a short white skirt. I felt my face go a soft pink, 'It's a girl' I gawked. Without even thinking I felt my feet begin to carry me towards the girl. She was standing in the middle of the road, staring at the ghost town before her.
"Oi!" Carter called. No reaction from the girl could be seen. "Oi! You!" Carter called louder. The girl noticeably flinched at his words. I took a few more steps forward so that we were only a metre or two apart.
A soft breeze ran across the street. The girl turned her body calmly, her blonde hair danced gracefully in the wind. Her eyes appeared to be glowing a soft blue, as tears welled up in her eyes; a soft smile gave a warmth to her face.
"Hey, are you okay?" I questioned the girl, taking another step forward. Her response was a simple nod and a swift turn. She quickly picked up her feet, as she ran further into town. Upon instinct, I chased after her.
I continued a few metres behind her and Carter a few metres behind me. My breathes instantly began to quicken as I sped up, not wanting to lose her. Every step I took hurt my bare feet; every so often I glanced at them to make sure I didn't accidently step on something that could seriously hurt me.
She took a sharp left turn into a dead-end alley way. I smirked, slowing my pace until I was entering the alley way walking. She stared at the alley way wall.
"Why were you crying?" I asked concern riddled my words. Her head turned with a look of shock and happiness.
"I'm so sorry Raegan." She apologised on the brink of tears.
"How-" My question was cut off by, Carter.
"Where are you?!" He called. I turned towards the entrance.
"Here!" I yelled, as Carter ran into the alley way.
"Where is she?" Carter's question left me stunned, turning my body to face the wall. 'She was just here. There is no way she could've gotten out' I thought; checking the tattered wall for a secret hatch or something. Anything.
