"You are my daughter. You are Jacob's brother. I.. I don't know how to explain this. I just.. it's hard to believe that you are just some random girl, that happens to look exactly like my daughter, has the genes of a wolf, and it actually happens that Washington Forks, is her home town." Billy looked at me.
Billy's hands were slightly in the air. I looked at Jacob. He was already looking at me. His eyes were wide and his mouth was slightly open. When I looked at him, he closed his mouth and smiled a little. I didn't feel like smiling back, I was too shocked. I sighed and looked back at Billy.
"I need to take a breath of fresh air..... excuse me." I walked outside.
I went to the shed beside the house. Leaned on the wall. Then I slid down the wall, so I was sitting on the ground. I got my phone out of my back pocket and went straight to my messages, an automatic reflex. I always go straight to Skylar when things go wrong. She's always there for me. Well... up till now. I sighed and put my phone back down.
'If I tell her.. she would tell someone else. She was never good with secrets. Or she wouldn't even believe me.' I thought to myself.
I started to shake. I tried to take deep breaths... but that did nothing. The shaking in my hands became worse, and worse. It started at my hands, then went up my arms, shoulders, feet, legs.. stomach. I was shaking so violently, I thought I was going to pass out. Then as if acid was being poured all over my brain and body, I heard my clothes rip. Then I was on all fours. I got up, onto my feet, but I was unbalanced and fell back onto my hands. I looked down.. I didn't have hands. I had paws... I screamed.. only it wasn't a scream... it was a howl and a sharp whine. I backed up, and hit the shed wall. Thinking it was someone, I turned around quickly. I growled in frustration and turned back around, to face the house. I heard the front door open. I saw Jacob leaning on the porch railing. His eyes widened when he saw me. I tried to talk to him, but the only thing that came out, was a whimper. He jumped off the railing. While he was in mid-air, he formed into a wolf. The process looked quick and magestic. He was a rusty brown, all over. I saw what he was seeing, and I heard what he was hearing. He was looking at me. i was all white, a rusty brown around my left eye and black fur on my paws.. like socks.
Leo... you've changed.
Jacob thought.
Yeah. I can see that. And please. Don't call me Leo. My name was Jackie, and it will always be Jackie.
I growled.
Hey. I'm not going to do anything... you don't need to get defensive. Now, stay calm... let me change back. I'll get you some clothes.
Jacob stated.
I nodded, and sat down, onto my haunches, showing I wasn't going to make any moves that would resolve in a fight. Jacob walked away, behind the house. I could hear everything he was thinking, and what he saw.... but then he took deep breaths and his thoughts and vision went away from my mind. Like a light switch being switched. The light was on, but then it's not. I heard a window open, and someone climb into it. I looked around, my large head swinging to a left, then a right. I was in the middle of the yard, beside the red shed. I stood up and walked behind the shed, so for people who weren't looking, couldn't see me. I waited patiently, for Jacob to come back with clothes. But I heard voices.
She's new.
The command made me lay down. It was physically over powered. I growled and stood up, ignoring the command.
She must be Jacob's sister.--
My mind automatically went back to the conversation with Billy. When he said I was his son and Jacob's sister. As if I was confirming what the second guy said, he said,
Yup. Jacob's little sister...
She's too weak. She won't be able to help us when vampires are attacking.
A different person snarled.
Paul. If you don't stop being negative all the time, I'm going to have to put you on silence for a couple weeks.
The same guy who said for us to shut up, said that. I could feel Paul's shoulders slump, as the command settled in.
Ok. Who are you people?!
I whimpered.
I had a feeling they were near.
Yeah. We're near. We're just inside the woods. We can see you...
A kid that sounded like he was only 14, stated.
That's creepy!
I snarled loudly, and howled. I backed up a few steps.
Quiet.
The first guy said, once again making it hard to stand.
We're your pack.
He barked.
Are you sure... I mean--
I stopped talking, when I heard footsteps coming down some porch steps. I looked toward the direction of the sound, my ears pricked straight up. Jacob hopped off the last step of the porch, holding a pile of clothes. He looked at me, then frowned. I tilted my head.
"I can see your frustrated. I've been a wolf for too long," he smiled reassuringly. "Is the rest of the pack in the forest?"
I nodded. I looked toward the forest and my top lip quivered slightly, as I tried not to growl. I didn't fully trust them.
You're going to have to learn to trust us. We're practically family. A pack. Brothers... er... and sisters.
Sam stumbled on his words. He was used to all men/boys. Not girls/women. I sat on my haunches again and looked back to the ground. Jacob walked to me. He put the clothes on the ground, and pet my large head. I shook his hand off my head and scooted away from him.
"Aww. Don't be like that..."
he laughed.
I sighed.
"Guys, come on inside. Jackie may need some space.. to ya know... process things."
Jacob smiled.
Come on. Jacob's house.
Sam ordered.
I saw them emerge from the forest. First a very black wolf. I knew that was Sam.
