(You All Dat is by Baha Men)

Erin’s POV:

Work was tiresome as usual, and after the extra cleaning we were doing for the Thanksgiving break that was soon approaching, I couldn’t wait to go back to the dorms and take a nice warm shower. I walked back enjoying the peace and quiet of the night. It was too cold outside for anyone to be running around, and I loved that. I love being able to look up at the sky, and just be, nothing more. It’s amazing how important you can feel just realizing you’re alive when the world looks beautiful for a moment.

I went inside the building, and remembered all the responsibilities I had neglected while I was at work. I had to study for tomorrow’s quiz, which I was most likely still going to have to retake no matter how much I studied, because the professor is so freaking picky. Plus I wanted to get a start on next week’s projects.  Wait, why hasn’t anybody distracted me yet? How I’m supposed to do my weekly eavesdrop as I walk back, if everyone’s so quite?

It was strange, but I figured everyone was just in a last minute crunch before the break. I opened my dorm room to find Shannon staring out the window. She waved me over and pointed outside. “What? Is it an ambulance, a cop, what’s going on?”

“Just look,” she demanded then fixed her eyes outside the open window again. I followed her instructions, slightly intrigued. Plus I didn’t mind the distraction. There were five guys standing out in the snow, and it took me a while to figure out who they were, because all I could see were the backs of their heads. I eventually recognized the hairstyles, starting with Harry’s.

            “Is that?”

“Uh, huh,” I could see her nodding her head out of the corner of my eye, but I couldn’t stop staring at them. What were they up to?

“Why are they facing the wrong direction,” I questioned looking back to her. She looked over to me trying to come up with an answer then a huge smile took over her face, and she pointed at me laughing. “It’s not that funny.” She stopped for a second then we both started cracking up. Maybe it was a little funny.

“Wait, no, no. You’re supposed be listening, they’re singing,” she said concerned and tried to calm me down.

I finally tuned in to hear Harry sing the lyric, “Met her at a counter affair, she wore a green dress and everybody was there, felt out of place till she looked into my eyes.” I knew I heard the song before, but I needed more lyrics. Soon enough they started harmonizing the chorus, and I realized it was “Girl On TV” by LFO They were singing it beautifully.

“This song doesn’t make any sense for me. I’m not on TV,” I commented confused. She looked over to me like I was crazy. “Oh, right,” I forgot about the show. “But I’m still not a movie star.”

“Stop it. You’re doing everything you can to disconnect yourself from this. Not anymore. This is happening, and you’re going to deal with what’s right in front your face. I suggest you listen, because I guarantee you’ll regret it later if you blow this off like it doesn’t matter to you,” She kept my eyes until she was finished then she looked back down at them. I looked back too. Shannon was never much of a scolder. She had more of a discussion-based approach to influencing people, so her words had hit me hard. I started listening again, and I got what he was trying to say. It was the only way he could get me to listen. It wasn’t cheesy; it was just a plea for me to acknowledge him again. He was trying to tell me that it didn’t matter who I was, or how we met, or any other circumstances. None of that affected him; he just cared about me. I let a tear fall knowing full well I did think about him, and it was a big relief to know that it wasn’t a one-way street. I meant more to him then just a boost in happy fans.
