Chapter Eleven: Morning

(Danni)

I woke up, my chest hurt. My eyes were heavy. I was light headed. I forced my open. I was in the hospital. How'd I get to the hospital?

I then felt my lungs collapse. I screamed out in pain, tears came to my eyes.

"Danni?" I heard a voice call, I couldn't reply all I could do was scream. "Danni!" I heard someone yelled and then footsteps.

I ripped my shirt off and clawed at my sides. I cried and gasped for air, clawing at my sides more. I almost broke the skin when someone grabbed my hands. Then the pain was gone.

"Take me to the hospital, now."

Who'd I tell to bring me here?

"Hey." I heard someone say softly. I looked over to see Derek, sitting in a chair next to me. "You're awake." He gave me a small smile.

"How long have I been out?" He sighed, losing the small smile he had.

"A few days. They had to rush you to emergency surgery." I sighed and looked down. "I told you not to go on the track meet."

"Where is he?"

"I'll go get him."

He stood up and I nodded my head. It was quite for a long time. The TV was off, and I didn't have anyone to talk to. There was a small knock before the door opened. Issac slowly walked in, but stayed at the edge of the bed.

"You never told me you were sick." He wouldn't look at me.

"I never told anyone, Derek was the one that told the school. After he found out I didn't, and they called him." I said softly. "I didn't want anyone to know."

"Derek told me that you weren't supposed to go on the track meet." He looked up at me.

"I had just had a treatment, my doctor told me not to travel long ways. Stay at home and rest."

"Why didn't you stay home then?" He asked, sounding mad.

"I didn't want to make you upset and I haven't got to spend a lot of time with you. Then Derek wasn't home when I left to stop me." He shook my head.

"I wouldn't have been mad at you, I was just glad to spend time with you. Danni, you know how much I love you."

"I know, but I just didn't like to talk about it. Eric found out because she was at the hospital the same time I was. That's how we became friends. She promised never to tell anyone."

"But, me of all people? Why couldn't you ever tell me? We had sex for crying out loud and you didn't tell me you were sick!" I looked down. "You were the first per I had ever had sex with. You are the closest person I have ever been to."

"I'm sorry, why'd you want me to do? Oh, hey Issac I forgot to tell you, I have Leukemia. But don't worry, if I die it'll be okay." I gave him a fake smile.

"That's not what I meant." He lowered his voice.

"Really? Cause that's what it sounded like. I don't like talking about it. I've been getting better, so who cares."

"I care, why won't you let Derek give you bite? You wouldn't have to worry about this. No more being sick. No more having to go the hospital. You would have more power than ever. You going see better. Danni, it could change your life."

"I don't want it!" I yelled, cutting him off.

"What?" He looked at me shocked.

"I don't want the bite." He took a step closer.
