*Jack POV*
I flew all the way to fine arts building, desperately looking for a place to hide. Tears were streaking down my face as I looked around, silently hoping that Mark didn't chase after me. I held my clenched hands to my chest, and let out a sigh of relief when I saw an open door. The class I was entering was a complete mystery to me, seeing as Mark only had a few classes in this building in past years, which had consisted of band, and theatre. The classes for painting and things like that were on the other side of the building, so for all I knew, I was in a drawing class. My theory was confirmed when I nearly ran into a student who had stayed behind to finish some work. "Thanks for helping me with my drawing Ms. Earl. I really appreciate it."
The teacher, who could only be Ms. Earl, smiled as she followed the student out of her classroom. The rest of their conversation was lost as she turned off the lights and closed the door. I let out a shaky breath and settled into a seat. I took a few more breaths before giving up on staying calm and finally released a torrent of tears. As my weeping continued, I mulled over my thoughts.
I always knew there was something different about me, when I was alive that is. It was often a troubling thought for me. Unfortunately, I could never figure out what it was, which caused some problems for me during my high school career. I wiped my eyes and looked over the assortment of drawings. "Am I-gay?" I whispered to myself.
My eyes widened with realization and I grabbed handfuls of my green hair. "That would explain everything!"
The discovery made me somewhat better, but my smile slowly faded from my face as the guilt set back in. "That doesn't dismiss the fact that I kissed my best friend for no reason. It was my own stupid jealousy," I mumbled.
I let out a heavy sigh and drifted out of the seat I occupied. "I should go apologize to him before he leaves for his date."
My body felt heavier as I floated to the door. I looked up and blinked back tears as I grabbed the doorknob and_. "What?" I asked out loud.
The handle jiggled again as I tried to turn it. I cursed under my breath as I grabbed it with both hands and violently shook it. "Really?!" I yelled at nobody in particular.
I growled as I banged my head against the door. "Of." Thunk. "Course." Thunk. "I." Thunk. "Get." Thunk. "Locked." Thunk. "In." Thunk.
With a sigh of annoyance I floated back to the seat I had been sitting in. I glanced around at all the art before getting up to go examine each piece with scrutiny. There were several examples of realistic drawings that had been drawn and shading with only a pencil. Some of the others were of bouquets of colorful flowers. I sighed and picked up an dry erase marker and turned it in my hands before smiling. "If I'm stuck in here I might as well have some fun."
I yawned as I look at my handiwork. I had gone crazy with the markers, writing things like "LEAVE THIS PLACE" and "BEWARE." I had also overturned desks and placed art supplies all over the room in an organized manner. I chuckled and sat down in one of few upright desks, once more looking at my work before laying my head down in my arms.
I woke to the sound of the door unlocking. Slowly, I lifted up my head and watched the opening door with half-closed. Ms. Earl walked into the classroom and let out a startled squeal when she saw the state of the room. I chuckled quietly as I stood up, watching her as she took in the details of the chaos. Soon a female student walked in. "Good morning Ms._ woah! What happened here?"
"I have no idea! The room was like this when I came in," she said in a tone of distress.
I grinned and softly began to bang my fist against the desk I was sleeping at. Both of their eyes widened, and the student began to slink towards the door. I stopped for a moment, watched the confusion on their faces. I then laughed and threw the desk to the side, cackling as the two women screamed and ran out of the room. I continued to laugh as I drifted out and made my way back to the dorm rooms. I suddenly found myself in front of Mark's door, and took a deep breath, then grabbing the doorknob and slowly twisting it open. I floated inside before closing and locking the door behind me, listening for any signs of Mark.
Silence.
"Mark?" I called out.
Still nothing.
I ended up searching the whole dormitory for the raven-haired man, only to find diddly-squat of the college student. "I probably just missed him," I said to myself.
Then why was the door unlocked? I went back to the living room, spotting a piece of paper on the coffee table that I had missed when I first came in. I picked it up and recognized the scrawled handwriting that belonged to Mark. "Jack, as sappy as it sounds I'm really sorry that I made you jealous. I guess I can understand why. I still have to go to class, which sucks, but I hope that you'll be here when I come back. I guess if you're reading this you are back. But I really want to talk to you about something. -Mark."
I held the note to my chest and took a deep breath. "I guess I'll just have to wait," I mumbled.
I drifted into Mark's bedroom and sat down on the edge of his bed, the note still in my hands as I read over it again.
I was startled out of my daze and lifted my head. After a moment of silence I got up and floated to the living room. The raven-haired man sighed as he dropped his back and rubbed his eyes. He looked extremely worn out. "Mark?" I murmured.
He lifted his head, his eyes wide as he stared at me. After another quiet second, I began to sob and threw my arms around him, burying my head in the crook of his neck. He gently wrapped his arms around me and quietly comforted me, slowly rocking back and forth as he did so. In this moment, I was finally able to feel relief from the guilt I had previously felt.
