You nervously glance over at a clock hanging on the wall. 11:47 pm. Where is he?
Your roommate, Edd, had left the house a few hours ago. He didn't say where he went, but he didn't take the car and reeked of depression. The nearby buildings, other than houses, are a bank, a grocery store, some sort of historical landmark you don't really remember, and a bar. If you had to place money, you'd bet he went to the bar.
Edd doesn't really like alcohol. If something has him feeling melancholy, however, he'll drink until he can't tell the difference between up and down. You should know, you've been his roommate for three years now.
Not letting yourself get sidetracked with your thoughts, you grab a coat and start towards the bar, making sure you grab the house key on the way out. The walk to the bar seems long and unnecessarily dismal. You feel questions flood your mind. What's wrong with Edd? When you became his roommate, he already had most of the scars that are scattered across his body. He was already missing an arm and eye, but would never tell you how he lost them. Sometimes someone would call him and you'd have to pry a knife out of his hands. You always wonder who it is, but are too afraid to ask. Sometimes you'll say something and Edd will snap. One time he shot your foot. It would've been your knee if you hadn't moved. Still, you live with him through everything. Why, you'll probably never know. Curiosity, perhaps? Maybe fear.
Your thoughts are cut short as you open the door to the bar and loud music slices any chances of concentrating in fifths. You look around until you see the emerald green of Edd's hoodie. His right arm, the robotic one, is missing. He must've left it in his room. Edd is sitting alone in a corner, downing some alcoholic beverage you'd rather not try. You slowly approach him.
"Edd?" you call above the music. He only sets his drink down and waves to signal he's heard you. He instantly picks his drink back up and finishes it.
You notice the bartender casting worried glances at Edd. He must've drank a lot. Honestly, it's what you expect. He has been gone for hours after all.
"What is it?" Edd asks, piercing your thoughts.
You...?
