Dodie
I look my sister in the eye, and for a moment, I can see the hysterical humour in this situation. Evan and I standing extremely close, both faces red with anger, and me holding what's quite obviously a wedding ring up in his face, and yelling about divorcing him. My sister, probably hearing the whole thing, with her jaw on the floor. And Evan, slowly becoming even more flustered as he sees Hedy. And in that moment, I can't believe my life has turned into such a bad soap opera.
Then the panic sets in.
''Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit.'' I mutter. ''Uhm, hey sis,'' I walk over closer to the door. ''Forgot you were comin' round.'' I don't know why I'm sticking with the fake casualness, there's no way she doesn't know what's going on here.
''What the hell, Dorothy.'' She spits, a mixture of confusion and anger lacing her voice.
Sometimes, when she's angry or upset or disappointed, she uses my full name, a habit she picked up from Dad.''So was the train journey okay?'' I continue, not looking her in the eye and picking up her bag.
''You didn't miss your transfer, did you?''''Dodie,'' she says, grabbing my arm. I look up at her, her face has softened a bit. ''What's going on?''
''Well,'' I sigh, ''Me and Ev-'' I look over my shoulder, expecting to see Evan. Instead, I find an empty living room, and I hear the sound of Evan's room door shutting.
I sigh again, and look at my sister.
''How about I make us some tea, first?''

Evan
Stupid, stupid, stupid, dumb, dumb, dumb. Why did I think that would be a good idea? What was I thinking?
I fall down on my bed and close my eyes. I clench my fists to resist the temptation to punch myself in the face.
She'll never like you now.
That was the plan, remember?
Was it?
Yes it was, I tell the annoying voice. Be rude, rid yourself of any memories of this big mistake, make her want to have nothing to do with you.
Well, I guess you didn't mess that up, dumbass. But, don't know if you've noticed, she's you flatmate, how do you see this playing out?
Don't know yet.
Really showing off your intelligence there, buddy.
Shut up.
Sure, just keep saying that. Remember, the girl you love hates you now.
Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!
I clench my fists until I can't stand the sting of my nails digging into my palms anymore. I hear Dodie and Hedy talking in the other room. I rub my forehead, I just can't take this anymore. I grab my phone, and look for the playlist I labeled 'LOUD', put it on and let the music drown everything out. I just need to get away.
Dodie
''So, let me get this straight.'' Hedy says.
