"Excuse me?".
"I said~", repeated Alfred while grinning,"What's your name?".
"Why do you care?".
"Because, you always look sad when you come here, and I want to make you happy, since I'm the hero!", Alfred responded, grinning from ear to ear.Sighing exasperatedly, the boy rubbed his thick eyebrows, as if Alfred was giving him a sort of headache, and said,"My name is Arthur.. Now would you stop your hero act and leave me be, I'm trying to read!", Pointing over at the book laying in the grass.
"Well, I guess I'll read with you, since a hero would never leave behind someone in need!", he said loudly, running over to the swing set and plopping himself down. Groaning, Arthur reluctantly returned to his book, sitting next to Alfred, who was bursting with excitement.
Dusting off the book, Arthur tried to begin reading again, only to find it difficult, since he could nearly feel Alfred's intense gaze on the book. However, the blue eyed boy kept his silence, for a few minutes, and let him read.
Without warning, Alfred jumped up and yelled,"I KNOW! INSTEAD OF READING, WE'LL CLIMB A TREE!!".
"But you said you'd let me.. AHH LET ME GO YOU..!"Quickly, Alfred grabbed Arthur's hand and began dragging him through the weeds, towards a large, sturdy, old tree. "Here, this one is perfect!", he exclaimed, taking the book from Arthur and tossing it to the ground. "Wait, what do you think you're doing, you could fall and die!", Arthur said, fear prominent in his voice.
"Oh come on~, nothing bad will happen, stop being so scared, Artie!", Alfred yelled back, already getting higher up the tree. Looking dubious, Arthur began to slowly make his way up the tree. Luckily for the two of them, the tree had plenty of branches to grasp, and by the time Arthur had made it halfway, Alfred was already sky high, poking his head out of the leaves to look at the setting sun.
Pulling himself up to a wider branch, Arthur yelled up to him,"COME DOWN HERE!! You went up too high!". Laughing, the boy climbed down to Arthur, his blond hair messy and his shirt rumpled.
"Don't do things like that, you could fall!", admonished Arthur, making a grim face at Alfred. "Don't worry, I'm good at this kinda stuff! Besides, I'm a hero, and heros never fall off anything, except, that detective guy that mom watches on the television did, but he was OK!", rambled Alfred, talking with Arthur easily, as if they had known each other their whole lives.
Suddenly, Alfred looked Arthur dead in the eyes and asked,"So, are you happy yet?". Arthur thought about this strange question for a moment and answered with a quiet,"I guess so..".
"HURRAY!! Well, my job is done for today, so see you tomorrow, Artie!", the boy whooped, as he jumped off the tree and, waving, ran off.
Arthur watched him for a second or two, before coming to a horrible realization,"WAAITT, ALFRED, HOW DO I GET DOWN?!".
