In the entire town, there is only one park this badly broken, rusty, and empty. The park has been abandoned and forgotten for so long, that it's name has been lost. Most of the equipment in the park is no longer usable, except for one rusty swing set, hiding behind overgrown weeds.

This is where a young boy happened to be reading almost everyday, avoiding his home and choosing to absorb himself in his books. Wind, rain, heat, or cold, almost nothing could stop him from retreating there daily.

On this particular day, the boy sung gently back and forth on the swing seat, shoes grazing the grass, reading, as usual. However, something prompted him to look up from the fairytale in his lap.

A branch broke, clearly from the weight of something's foot, somewhere in the tangled underbrush. Letting the book slide out of his lap and onto the ground, he stood up quickly, alert. In a abandoned park like this, who knows what, or who might be there.

SNAP

Sharply turning his head around, the boy gazed anxiously into the weeds. An almost eerie silence filled the park, as if everything around had stopped to look as well.

Suddenly, a pair of ocean blue eyes stared out of the underbrush, followed by the thing itself emerging as well.

"HI, my name's Alfred, what's yours?"

This is a joint chapter another one goes up today.. Well, hopefully it isn't so bad though it is obscenely short. I'm writing at 6 am so forgive any grammar mistakes.
See You Next Chapter!
