I was watching Sarab train with Niles. He's getting much better. But he still has much to learn.

"He will be a great warrior." I turn to my left and see Ra's.

"In time he may even be better than you." I say with a smile.

He laughs. "One day he may just be."

"Father." We both turn and see Niles running up to us. "Mother said you would help train me today." He was so excited.

"Did she now." He looks over at me.

"We'll I can't very well train with my son when I carry his brother." I say placing my hand on my belly.

"When will I see him?" Niles asks.

"If I'm right, which I always am, he'll be here in a month or two." Ra's looks at me with such love. "Go on now. Teach your son to fight." I smile at them both.

Sarab comes over and sits beside me. We sit in silence for some time.

"He will make a great warrior. Although I do not think he is fit to lead the League yet." Sarab breaks the silence.

I look at him and back at Niles and Ra's. "I see what you mean. He doesn't like the 'political' side of his teachings. I don't think he ever will."

"Perhaps your second son will be more fit to the throne." He suggests.

"Perhaps." I stand. "Tell me how their training goes." He nods his head and I leave to the kitchens.

On my way there I am stopped by our messenger. "A letter came for you."

"Thank you." I take the letter and continue to the kitchen. I open the letter after I grab fruit.

Dear 'asad,

I hope all is well with you and Niles. I miss you both. I miss home. I miss Ta-er al-Sahfer.

I will stay awhile longer. I will visit in a few months. I'm sorry I won't be there for Nathaniel's birth. I will visit as often as I can but that can never be my home again.

I will see you soon.

Alnnamr alssaghir

I smile as I read the letter. I am proud of her for leaving this place. Without Sara she wouldn't feel right here. Too many memories.

I get up and head to the library. I get there and see Niles with his tutor. He looks close to sleep. I walk to one of the other parts of the library and settle down with my favorite book.

"'Asad. It is time for dinner." I look up to see Sarab.

"I must've lost track of time." I start to get up but stop when I feel a pain in my stomach.

"Are you alright?" Sarab kneels next to me.

"Yes. I think it was jus- ahhh" I feel more pain. "I think he's early." I say before naother wave of pain starts.

Sarab picks me up bridal style and takes me to the infirmary wing. He says a few things to the nurses there and then lays me gently on the bed. He goes to leave but I grab hold of his hand.

"Don't leave. Please." I say through the pain. He comes back to my side and holds my hand.

"You're almost ready. Push when I say." The doctor says.

I try and control my breathing as best as I can. I feel Sarab squeeze my hand, I squeeze back much harder.

"Now." I push.

After about fifteen minutes of this I feel him slip through. I look up at Sarab and smile at him.

"Here you go 'asad." A nurse hands me my baby.

"Why did nobody tell me my wife was in labor?!" I hear Ra's demand.

"Darling come. See your son." I croak. He moves to my left and looks at Nathaniel.

"Hello Nathaniel." He lets Nathaniel take hold of his finger. "He has your eyes."

I smile at that. "Sarab could you bring Niles?" He nods his head and leaves the room.

Ra's takes Nathaniel in his arms and coos over him.

Few minutes later Sarab returns with Niles.

"Niles come take a look at your brother." He walks over to Ra's and looks at Nathan. "You'll protect him won't you Niles?" Ra's asks him.

"Yes father. I'll always protect you little brother." Niles promises.

I look at them and smile.

This is my family. We may not be the number one best family but we'll always look out for one another. We protect our own.
