Has our fate been forgotten so quickly?

Have people not learnt their lesson?

My unique species has been lost forever.

Now others follow the exact same pattern.

Fearlessly we roamed the dence rain forests,

Happy in our isolation.

Native creatures were our main diet.

No predators for us to fear

A dog-like creature so small and bony.

I sped quickly through the forest.

My stripes resembled a tiger.

My marsupial's pouch kept my babies safe each spring and winter.

Humans arrived unexpectedly on our shore.

They cleared the forests for their homes,

Fenced paddocks for their strange new animals.

We tried deperately to save our habitat.

They blamed us for eating their cattle and sheep.

A deadly bounty they put on our heads.

Our species soon dissapeared.

Wiped out in the blink of an eye.

It is too late for my species now

Extintion is forever.

Scientists please take note of these lessons from the past

Work hard to save the future species fast
