Chapter 16

Next day:

   I felt a hand touching my face and playing with my hair I slow woke up and I saw it was my mother weekly smiling at me.

   "mom how are you feeling. Does it hurt? Wait, I will call the doctor." I said hurriedly. Was about to walk out.

   "Drake I am fine. The doctor came and check I am all right." she said smiling.

   "Why are you smiling? You know I am worried about you so much. And here you are smiling.” I told her annoyingly. I looked around Chloe and Shaun was not there in the room. I look at the time it was 10 in the morning. I slept for so long. I think my mother saw my expression and said.

  " Chloe and Shawn went to get fresh. They weren't listening to me but I forced them to go. And you didn't sleep for long. Give yourself a break. Spend time with your mother and friends. It will make you happy. All the time work is not good for health." she said while glaring at me. I said nothing just stood up and hugged my mother tightly.

   She hugged me back. I know she can't be angry with me. Our moment was disturbed by the two idiots who barged into the room. I stood up and went near them. First i Shawn went near Shawn and gave him a brotherly hug. Then went to Chloe. Chloe's one thing I don't like is she hug me like a teddy bear.

  "Chloe leave I can't breathe." I told her, in return I got a punch on my abs.

  "Now you go fresh and up and take a bath because you stink" Chloe said while shrugging her shoulder. I just glared at her.

   "yes son you should go you must be tired, go home to get some proper sleep, fresh and up and eat something and then come. Chloe and Shawn are there to take care of me." mom said. I don't want to leave her right now.

  "but mom.." they cut me off by my mother glared. So I kept quiet and hugged three of them then left the hospital.

    Now I have to first have to meet Anna. I want to see her if she is all right or not. So I went to her house. Wait, a few blocks away from her house. Because I don't want her to meet with any trouble right now.

   I pulled my phone from my pocket. And dial Anna's number. She didn't pick up the call. I tried again, "Hello yes Mr. Vincent."

    "I am standing outside of your house I need you to come with me." I said
   "why? is there any problem. But I had my day off at work today."she told me
  " if you are not here in 5 minutes, I will have to come inside," I told her in an irritating voice

  " No, please wait I am coming outside" I didn't respond to that and kept my phone back in my pocket.

   It disturbed me about what i had seen yesterday. I wanted to know what had happened to her and why was in she in such a condition.

     I saw her coming towards my car
  "let go" I told her

  "But Mr. Vincent please tell me where are we going now?"

  "Stop asking me so many goddamn questions and get inside the car." I shouted.

  She was a little taken aback by my behavior but asking nothing further she sat inside the car.

   I noticed that she had a bandage on her forehead, her cheek was also red and few marks on her hands.

    I started the car, and we drove in silence for a few minutes later, Anna cleared her throat and asked me again  "Sir is this something important that we are going for? "

  I didn't answer and just kept my eyes on the road.

   In a few more minutes we reach my home "come on" I told her and got down from the car.

She kept staring at me.

  "I will answer to all your questions first let get inside."

       I rang the bell and the maid open the door for us.

   I didn't say a word just kept walking  till I reach my living room. I turn and saw that was coming in the room while having a look around the surrounding.

  " your house is a beautiful Mr. Vincent," she said.

   "thanks please have a seat" I told her pointing towards the chair in front of me.

  I took another chair and placed it in front of her chair, sat on it.

  "Now I want you to tell me what happened yesterday."

  She looked at me surprised
   " I dont want any excuses from you but only the truth."

    " Hmmm what are you talking about Mr. Vincent? Nothing happened yesterday." she said

  "Anna you very well know what i am talking about." I told her giving her a stern look.

   She looked away not wanting to meet my eyes.

    “It happened on my birthday.. 2 years back. It excited me on my birthday party. All the arrangements was done. I got a call, telling me to receive my gift was at the gate.

  Telling no one wondering who it was I went outside.

When I went out, I saw a huge box was kept near the gate and it had Anna written in big letters.

I went slowly towards the box. It was wrapped in a gift wrapping paper. I tried to open it.

  In just a few seconds I felt someone behind me. I turned around and came face to face with a masked faced man. I was frightened. He got hold of my hand and covered my mouth with his other hand. I tried to free my hand from his grip.

  Suddenly a van came and took me inside the van and drove away from my place. I try to shout but it was useless as he had covered my mouth with his hand. I didn't know who they were. I am few minutes we reached some place. It was dark all around. They took me into a room and tied me up on the chair.

   A man came and stood in front of me. The same man who had his face covered with the mask. He removed his mask showing me his evil face. In front of me stood. I couldn't believe it was him and why did he get me here.

   He brought his face close toward mine leaving almost no gap between us. I turned my face away in disgust.

  I asked him what did he want from me. He started laughing looking at me, without saying a word he locked the door and left the room. He used to come every night and torture me, tried to get closer to me. Finally, after a week I ran away from there.”

  Till she came to tell the end of the story. Anna had tears in her eyes.

" Anna look at me" told her
She didn't look up but tears kept flowing from her eyes

" After few days...,"She continued " when I couldn't think where should i go for help. I finally informed the police about all this. Then the next day that man was arrested. As soon as my mother got to know that I was the reason behind her brother arrest, she started shouted at me, she even used to beat me. I always treated her like my mother never did I see her as my stepmother.,"

  Step mother I didn't know that she was Anna's step mother

“She is your stepmother,” asked her.

" yes, she is.,"

" Then yesterday you were in a bruise. Who done that to you?" I asked her. Who ever have done here I just want to kill them?

" Anna tell me, i just want them to taste their own medicine.,"

   " That's the reason I dont want you to know. " she said while whipping her tears but her tears wasn't stopping.

  " okay fine I will do nothing now but tell me the name." I told her

" It was my mother,"
