"Ah..." I sighed, easing my tense body into the water. The jacuzzi was empty at this time of night, all customers asleep in their beds. I stretched my arms against the sides, draping my hands over the smooth tiles.Yuri sat beside me, fiddling with his trunks. The girls' yells and shouts could be heard from the big pool, Cathy in there with them. I relaxed my head against Yuri's shoulder.
It was so strange to actually be able to do things like this without fearing rejection.
This is the perfect way to relax. No paparazzi, no screaming fangirls, just cal- Never mind.
I groaned, my eyebrows furrowing as I sat up. Whoever yelled was going to get an ass kicking. I turned and placed my head on top of my hand to speculate. Charlie and Connor both stood by the diving blocks, Connor sporting nothing but a green speedo, emerald shamrocks decorating the back.
Damn. That's pretty bold. I cast my eyes to Charlie, surprised to find her in skins, dark blue in color that changed shade at the leg. She wore a tightly fitting cap, green goggles on her head.
"I challenge you to a race! Let's see if you are still a champ, or has the 'Green Dolphin' lost her edge?!" Connor yelled, taunting her.
"Fine! I wanted to have some fun anyway," she retorted.
"Green Dolphin?" I looked towards Alex who, as expected, lay on a deck chair, book between her fingers again and prescription glasses perched on her nose as per usual. She sighed before answering me.
"Yes. Before she became a designer, Charlie used to be an Olympic swimmer. Her specialty used to be freestyle and she was aptly nicknamed the 'Green Dolphin' due to her specialty and nationality."
Yuri clicked his tongue and turned back to the water. I faced the starting block, paying attention to what was happening.
Cathy stood off to the side, two stop watches at hand. Connor stood his arms above his head and knees slightly bent. He held a cocky smirk, glancing at Charlie every now and then.
Charlie looked completely calm, her fingers gripping the very edge of the board, one leg in front of the other, muscles tense. Her jaw clenched in anticipation, her fingers tightening their hold.
"Take your marks... go!" They both jumped in, their legs springing off the board and their bodies sliding into the water. There was silence as they stayed under the surface for a while.
Connors head was first to break the surface, a quarter way up the pool, Charlie coming up second halfway up the pool. They both started their strokes; Connors loud and harsh, slapping the water with his palms, Charlie soft and gentle, her fingers cutting through the water.
They both swam to the end, but Connor suddenly stopped, placing both hands on the wall and pushing off with his legs. Charlie flipped, her legs pushing her body through the water.
Both their hands slammed against the wall, Connor a full two seconds behind Charlie. She yelled and danced victoriously while Connor got redder by the second.
Oh, boy. "You may want to go for now, Charlie."
I placed a towel atop my head, wrapping another around my waist as I got out of the shower and paused my music.
I picked up my speaker and iPod, making my way into the bedroom. I chucked the device onto my bed and got changed, pulling on a pair of grey pajama pants and a black T-shirt. My phone buzzed as I jumped onto my bed. I unlocked the screen, noticing a text from Yuri.
Cat boi😻: you up idiot?
Me: Yeah, why?
Cat boi😻: ...
Me: Yuri?
A knock resounded through my hotel room. I stood and pulled open the door. "Yu-" Yuri cut past me into the room and searched every available space with surgical precision as if looking for something.
He then turned to me, seemingly satisfied, looking me dead in the eye and smiled slightly. It was small and bashful, something out of his usual character, but definitely not unwanted.
"Something wrong?" I asked him. He shook his head and his smile disappeared, he shoved a note onto my chest and left. I stood stunned until I moved again and glanced down at the note he gave me.
Be at the ice rink at six. I want to run through your free skate and Charlie wants to fit your costume
-Alex
I groaned, pissed that it wasn't from Yuri. I felt horrible. It was one thing to like someone, but I felt like I was obsessing. Everything reminded me of Yuri.
The smell of the flowers in the lobby of his hair, that cat outside the hotel that kept glaring at things for no reason, the small breathy noises that he made after working ou- okay, Sam.
That is enough. I decided to try and sleep off my disappointment. It didn't work. Damn it, Alex!
Bello^^
