Cas took a deep breath. 'Oh boy' he thought. He was sure that Dean would never want to talk to him again after he told him about himself. Nobody ever stuck around after they really knew him.

"Don't stress over it," Dean said, "if you don't wanna talk about your past, we don't have to."

Cas sighed. "No, it's okay I just... I don't wanna overwhelm you," he said with a dry, forced, chuckle.

Dean gave him a playful smirk/smile. "Don't worry about overhwhelming me. I have a very underwhelming life. One thing you should know is that I basically crave to be overwhelmed for once. For something exciting or interesting to happen. My life is just waking up and going through the motions at this point. The only exciting thing at this point is Sammy coming home on occasion. I was actually kind of hoping you'd stay a while," he said with a chuckle.

Cas smiled, feeling a boatload of tension fall off of his shoulders. "Okay then, um I guess I'll start when I was a little kid."

Dean held up his index finger, "one second."

Dean grabbed a pillow and set it down at the end of the blanket and laid down. Cas was sitting up so they were still facing each other.

Cas chuckled, "comfy?"

Dean smiled, "yup."

Cas looked him in the eyes. He felt them stare in to him and quickly shifted his eyes to look out towards the meadow. There was a family of bunnies hopping around. Cas smiled.

"Well I had my father and my little brother Gabriel. My mother died when I was a little and Gabriel was a baby." Cas started.

Dean looked at him, "Oh I'm so sorry.."

Cas looked down at him and could tell that he genuinely felt for him. He smiled softly, "She's probably happier now than she would've been here. That's what I always tell myself."

Dean sat up and rubbed Cas' back. Cas smiled softly.

"I had them and everything was fine until a few days ago.." he looked down at his fingers and twisted the ring on his left index finger. Dean looked down at his hand and saw the ring.

"Special ring?" He asked softly

Cas nodded, "my mother's."

Dean sighed and kept his hand on Cas' back. Cas couldn't explain why but something about Dean's touch comforted him. It was the first time in a few days that someone had touched him in a caring way.

He took a deep breath and decided to continue, "I... I told my dad and brother a few days ago that I'm gay... he told me that no son of his would ever be gay. So by default I'm no longer his son... so I left. He told me to never come back... I promised Gabriel that I'd be back one day but now I don't know if I can keep my promise.." he looked over at Dean who was already looking at him.

Dean sat in silence for a minute, "I... I don't know what to say besides I'm so sorry.."

"It's fine.. you don't have to say anything." Cas said.

Dean turned a significantly bright shade of pink but was obviously trying to hide it, "I'm gonna hug you now and if you're uncomfortable, feel free to pull away. I won't be mad."

Cas chuckled, "okay."

Dean pulled cas into his side in a hug. Cas took a deep breath and closed his eyes as Dean smiled.

Just then Cas' phone rang. His 5 Seconds of Summer ringtone breaking the peaceful silence in the meadow. He blushed and pulled out his phone. In the blink of an eye, all the color drained from his face.
