"Get ready to go Sora!" "Ok mom." I grab my glasses and my jacket and head out.

"Where are we going?" "We are going to Michael's house". Michael is my mom's new boyfriend. My parents have been divorced for 5 years now. I haven't experienced another human in my family. I'm scared but I should go.

I enter the back-left seat and move a suitcase to sit down. My mom tells me, "I know you might be nervous to meet someone new but I need you to do this for me. Please?" I agreed and said, "Ok". Meeting new people has always been hard for me. For instance, in kindergarten, I walk into the classroom and sit down. Another kid sits next to me and says, "Hi.". I got really nervous and ran away crying. I hope now that I'm thirteen, that I at least won't cry.

I notice that the trees and all the foliage seems to fit in perfectly with the baby blue sky. We take a right turn up an alley. We go up a short dirt path and then we pull up in a driveway. This house looked like a mini-castle. We exit the car and walk up some steps. Each step drills a deep pit in my stomach. Pits that can only be filled with relief. I doubt my pits will be patched up. We reach a landing and walk up 3 more stairs. Just a couple of inches ahead of me is a door. My mom grasps the handle and opens the door. I close my eyes and walk in.

An unknown voice greets me with a nice "Hello". I open my eyes and see a tall man with a long beard and a hat. He sticks out his hand and I sit there confused. "He wants to your hand Sora". I feel embarrassed and shake his hand. Michael said, "It is nice to finally meet you Sora! I've heard so many good things about you!" I open my mouth but nothing comes out. He then says, "It's ok Sora. Don't feel pressured into conversation just yet. The living room is over there if you want to make yourself at home." He points and I run out.

I turn left and see a big room. This really looks like a ballroom. The fanciness wasn't quite there but the size was. There was a grand piano in the corner that emitted a nice black shine towards me. I walk around and find a chair. I sit down and take off my jacket. I notice out of the corner of my eye some flashing colors. It is a tv. I investigate and find out it is a video game. The bright colors and the sight of Mario and Link made me realize that this is "Super Smash Brothers for Wii U".

I walk over and see a kid. I get scared and retreat a couple of steps. He caught me. He said "Hello. Are you Sora?". I quickly nodded my head and came a little closer. He then said, "It's nice to meet you. My name is Zander. Wanna play some Smash Bros?" I nodded my head and grabbed a controller. He told me the controls and let me choose my own fighter. I scroll through and see a bunch of characters. There was some familiar faces like Mario and Link. I select Link. We started the match and played.

3......2......1......GO! I hammer right on the joystick and spam the A button. I can never hit him because he is hopping around like a bunny. He then hits me. Hits me again, again, and again. My character flies out the blastzone and I don't see my character. Link then appears from the sky on a platform. Zander tells me, "You die whenever you fall off the stage. You have two more lives to use to take my three." This motivates me. I remembered from the previous stock that he was jumping around. I punished that by attacking up and stuffing his approaches. I mess up and he lands a hit into another hit. He combo'd me to death. I thought, "If I can lead hits into other hits to put him off the stage, he might die". So I try mlans together and get a small combo. He then combos me to death again and he wins.

I loved that experience. It was the best and most thought out 5 minutes of my life. I wanted more. We played and played and I say, "You are pretty good at this game." Those were my first words in the Adams household. He thanked me. We played and played and fell in love with this game.

When we left, I told myself to start saving up for Super Smash Bros Melee on Gamecube. I wanted to feel the joy I experienced playing Smash Bros all the time. Not just at Michael's house.
