Back at the cabin, I landed on the ground very, very clumsily. Laying there in a messy, bloody heap, I just stayed there. Too exhausted and my wing burning too badly to move. The distance from town to the cabin was roughly 10 miles. Which is usually nothing for me. But the wound in my wing was severely agitated throughout that time. Only tearing the wound more and more.

The hunters and Castiel must have gone inside, and they must have heard me because the door flew open.

“Raven!” Cas yells. I hear his feet moving quickly across the lawn. He crouches beside me and tries to roll me over.

“No!” I shout. “Please don’t move me. Just give me a minute, I’ll be fine.”

“Your wing is bleeding.” Sam’s concerned voice comes from my other side.

“When did you get here sasquatch? And why haven’t you left?” I mumble into the grass. I am so over today. I just want to go to bed.

“Cas wanted to make sure you got back okay.” He replies.

“How sweet.” I grunt as I slowly push myself to a sitting position. “I’m gonna have to leave here soon anyways. It’s only a matter of time before the cops show up.”

Sam looks around at the group, “We talked about it, and we decided you could come back with us.”

“We did?” Dean barks from the side of the impala.

“ Yes Dean we did.” Sam replies curtly. “We broke into her house, intended on killing her girlfriend, shot her.. a lot. Plus Cas knows her. If she’s a friend of Cas’ then she’s a friend of ours.”

I smile at Sam’s efforts. Even though I’d been a sarcastic bitch, he still showed compassion. It meant something with humans. These were the ones that I liked most. It was something I definitely loved about Sara.

“While you guys work this out, I’m gonna go get my stuff together.” I say while pushing myself up onto unsteady feet. Cas holds me by the arm till I brush him off. Feeling a little better, I was able to head inside and up to the bedroom again.

In the bedroom, I find a duffle and begin to scrounge whatever I can. Salvageable clothing, pictures, weapons. Lastly, I change out of my shredded clothes and into a fresh sweatshirt and jeans. Just as I’m finishing up, I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. When I turn to look, I see Sam blocking the doorway.

“You can come with us and stay for awhile, if you want to that is. And my name is Sam, by the way.” He says, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.

I smile and nod. “That would be nice. Maybe I can even pitch in and help out once in awhile, with a monster or two, if you guys need it.”

Now Sam nods. He seems a little hesitant, probably from years of being betrayed or hurt. Which comes with a life of hunting, I know that first hand. Even if I don’t do exactly the same type of hunting as them.

Sam walks a bit further into the room, his eyes taking in every little detail.

“When did she get bit?” He asks quietly, avoiding me looking directly at me.

“A couple of months ago.” My eyes travel to the ground. “I’m sure you did your research. Noticed all the killings around here, and all of the hearts missing. I’m sure you even came by here, checked the place out while we weren’t here. I tried to help Sara control the wolf. I locked her in the basement a few times.”

“We saw the chains down there.” Sam admits.

I nod again. “I figured. I could sense that you two had been here. I was expecting a visit, just not tonight. Sara had begun to hate that thing inside her. I knew deep down she wanted to end it after escaping and killing so many people and animals.” I stop for a moment, feeling a heavy weight on my chest. “It destroyed the person that she was, so I decided to end it tonight. Before it went on too long.”
