James POV
Waking up warm and comfortable, I rolled over in a pile of blankets in a cute cream colored living room. Oh yeah, I was in the home of Andy's friends. My senses perk up to the smell of coffee and pancakes. I push myself to sit up, still slightly sore from everything at the institute. I stretch as the sliding door opens, looking over to see Ashley walk out, Andy following sleepily, still wrapped in a blanket. He smiles sleepily at me as Ashley pipes up.
"Mornin' James."
"Good morning." I swing my legs to stand as my stomach imitates dying whale noises. I hear Andy giggle quietly as I follow him towards an open kitchen area. Gerard is perched on a counter top happily watching Frank flip pancakes. He looks up brushing the faded red hair from his eyes.
"This is going to take some adjusting too." He said laughing. I looked around. There were now 3 teenage boys sleepily and hungrily standing in their kitchen, me and Andy still in our Cotten institute clothes.
"Guys go get some real pajamas on, we have some upstairs. It's a Tuesday morning. Gerard isn't leaving for work until 6 so we can all be a little family this morning, okay?" Frank seems elated about this idea as me and Andy nod and shuffle off to change. Upstairs Andy and I turn our backs and slip into the clothes provided, we were roommates for a while anyways. The clothes were warm, fluffy, blue pants and a plain white long sleeve, Andy have purple Cotten pants and a grey long sleeve. We tossed the institute clothes into a waste bin and Andy flashed a smile at me.
"You seem happy this morning." I note out loud.
He nods and whispers,"Home."
"Yeah it does feel like a home huh?" He nods happily as we head downstairs. He is quickly welcomed back under the arm of Ashley and lays his head on him. They look so happy together, the same loving stare in their eyes is reflected on the couple in the kitchen playfully arguing over chocolate chips in the pancakes. It's such a warm lovey atmosphere, even if I'm viewing it from outside. That's normal for me. I watch my life like a television show, and it may get lonely, buts it's safe. I hear franks voice and look up.
"Earth to sleepy James." Gerard gave a short laugh. Warmth spreads over my cheeks.
"I'm sorry I was lost in thought."
"It's fine hun, breakfast is ready." Ashley and andy are happily grabbing pancakes from the plate and I walk over snatching one up for myself. It's still warm and fluffy, the chocolate chips melting on my fingers.
"This sure beats the food there," I muffle though the pancake.
"Mhm." Andy nods in agreement, picking though a small pile of miniature pancakes.
"We don't have much," Gerard says sitting on the counter edge near us, "but we can sustain ourselves. With more people in the house, one of you guys is gunna have to do something to help support the "family"."
"I'll do it." I look over the Ashley who said the words at the exact same time as me.
"James no you just got out of the institute."
"But you have Andy to take care of."
"I trust you with him."
"I want to see the outside world."
"I don't think it's a good idea yet Andy needs you around."
"No andy needs the love of his life."
We both turn to Andy who has followed the convo like a tennis game. He glances at us both then shoves a pancake in his mouth. I can't help but laugh.
"Don't worry, I'll do it whether you do or not, but you should stay with andy. Besides, you have no reason to trust me with andy. None of you have reason to trust me." Frank pipes up.
"I have faith in you if Andy took to you."
"Faith and trust are scary things Frank." I said looking back at my food. "Things I don't understand." This seemed to stick with them all in their own way as breakfast went quiet. Great my first day here and I ruin their morning. I'm desperately thinking of something to say, anything to lighten the mood when finally someone speaks up.
"Well I work at six so why don't we all go play cards or something? While I still have time." I see everyone else as relieved as I am when Gerard speaks up.
"Let's do it." Ashley pipes in and Andy nods along side him.
"Okay." I smile brightly at them and Frank leaves to grab the cards. Maybe this place will actually be good for me.
The first place I might not ruin.
If only I can figure trust.
