Olivia Parsons POV
I closed my eyes and listened to the soft waves washing up onto the shore. I could feel the waves tickling my feet and feel the sand being sucked away from the bottom of where I stood. I loved the smell of the ocean and I loved how the sun kissed my skin with its warmth. I could feel the cool breeze hitting my body and hear the sound of laughter of families enjoying their time together. It was such a beautiful day.
I opened my eyes and smiled. I turned around and started walking back to my car since I had already spent an hour here. I always come here to relax and think. I loved the ocean. All of a sudden I was hit with a small force and heard some shouting in the background. I fell on my back and something heavy was laying on top of me. I groaned and propped myself up on my elbows to see a golden retriever with a red ball in its mouth.
"Hey buddy as cute as you look, I don't enjoy you crashing into me" I chuckled and patted its head.
"Max! I told you not to run away with the ball!" Said a little boy's voice getting louder as he got closer.
I gently tried to push the dog off me so I could get up but the dog wouldn't move and acted as if I was the most comfiest pillow he had ever laid on. I sighed and just laid there.
"Max get up! Daddy will be mad" He said pulling the dog towards the direction he came from.
"Hey its ok. I don't mind being a pillow" I said jokingly with a smile.
"I'm sorry about Max. I'm Caleb and I'm 5" he said with a toothless grin.
"It's nice to meet you Caleb. I'm Olivia" I said smiling back at him.
"Caleb! Max! What have you both gotten in to now?" a man shouted and ran towards us.
He got to us and I swear he was the most handsome man ever. He was a little over six feet tall. He had dark caramel hair and brown eyes. He had a slight five o'clock stubble that made him seem more handsome. You could tell that he was muscular and fit. His lips were plump and very kissable. He was pure perfection.
"Max how many times have I told you not to run off like that. You could have gotten hurt" the man said with a strict tone.
"I-I'm sorry daddy. I promise I won't do it again. It was Max's fault. He ran off with the ball after I threw it. He wanted me to chase him" Caleb said staring down at his feet with a frown.
The handsome man looked at Max and then he realized that I was squished under him. He immediately grabbed the dog as if he weighed nothing and placed him next to Caleb.
"Thanks" I said with a smile.
He gave me his hand to help me up and I took it. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up too fast and I landed on his chest. I immediately took a step back and our heads were only an inch apart. I stared into his beautiful brown eyes. I could feel our breaths and hear my heart racing in my chest. Realizing how close we were I blushed a deep red. I put some space between us and looked away.
"I'm so sorry about Max. I hope you're okay. I'm James by the way" he said concerned while still holding onto my hand.
"I'm perfectly fine. Don't worry about it. Nice to meet you James I'm Olivia" I said taking my hand out of his and offering a smile.
"Caleb apologize to this lady now" the James said strictly.
"I'm sorry Olivia" Caleb said with a sad frown.
"Its alright Caleb. Its not your fault" I said bending down to his level and lifted his chin up.
"How about I get you some ice-cream? I think we could all use some ice cream. Would you like that"
"Yes! I love ice-cream! I love chocolate!" He said excitedly and hugged me.
"Someone is very excited. But first you have to ask if its ok"
Caleb ran to his Dad who was watching us and grabbed his hand.
"Daddy Daddy can I get ice-cream? Olivia said she wants to get ice-cream. Please I promise I'll be good!" Caleb begged his Dad with cute puppy eyes.
"Fine yes you can go have ice-cream" he said staring at me with a smile.
"Yaaay! Let's go Olivia" Caleb came to me dragging my hand to the ice-cream stand.
We got to the stand and I got us three chocolate ice-creams. We sat down at a bench and ate them. Caleb was a mess. He had chocolate dripping down his hand and his face was smeared with chocolate. I laughed at his silliness and accidentally made eye contact with his Dad. We stared for a few seconds and I looked away blushing. His stare was intense and was filled with an emotion of warmth and love.
I tried distracting myself so I glanced back at Caleb. His ice-cream mess was two times worse than earlier. Ice-cream was dripping onto his clothes. This kid was a messy eater. I grabbed napkins out of my purse and wiped his face and hands.
"Look at you. You're a mess" I said continuing to wipe him.
"But the ice-cream was so good. I love chocolate. This is why daddy never lets me eat ice-cream. He says I'm messy"
"Well he's right alright" I said with a giggle.
"Caleb we have to go. Remember that we promised Grandma to be at her house for dinner tonight" James said getting up and throwing the napkins and left over ice-cream away.
"Awwwh but I wanted to stay with Olivia. She's fun and I like her"
"I'm sorry buddy but maybe next time ok if Olivia would like to" James said crouching down to his level.
"Ok" Caleb said with a sad face.
I went over to them and placed my hand on Caleb's shoulder.
"This isn't the last time that we will see each other ok. I had fun today and I think you're a wonderful kid. Maybe next time we will see each other here at the beach again. I'm always here most of the time anyways"
Within a flash Caleb was hugging me and burying his head in my stomach. I wrapped my arms around his small body returning the hug. When I tried to pull away he wouldn't remove his grip on me.
"I'm sorry Caleb. I promise we will meet again" I said soothingly and patted his back.
He shook his head while still clinging onto me. I didn't know what to do. It broke my heart to see him like this. I looked at James for help but he was staring at us with a smile. Is this guy ok? I mean why would he smile when his son is clinging onto me?
"James could you help please"
He quickly changed his expression and walked over to us. He gently grabbed Caleb's hands and pried them off. He took Caleb in his arms and carried him. He pat his back and whispered something to Caleb in which he nodded his head. James kissed his head and they turned towards me.
"I have to go now. I hope you'll be ok Caleb. It was nice meeting you. I'll see you again soon. You know where to find me"
I smiled at Caleb in which he gave me a small smile.
"Bye Caleb. Bye James"
"Bye Olivia" Both James and Caleb said back.
I waved at them and began walking towards my car.
Walking away from them made me feel sad inside. It was a weird feeling. I couldn't figure why I was feeling this all of a sudden after meeting them in such a short amount of time. Caleb is such a sweet little boy.
His father is very handsome. His sexy lips and chocolate brown eyes were drawing me in. He had a muscular build and those arms, I wonder how it would feel to...wait Olivia stop thinking about him. He probably has a wife at home waiting for them. I think I'm going crazy. I don't want to interfere with their family. I'm not that type to go around kissing someone else's husband. I think its best to keep things at a distance.
I don't think I'll ever see them again. Today was just one of those days. I sighed and shook my head. What an eventful day. I got in my car and drove home.
