Grace's POV

I opened my window and let the moonlight crawl in, I stared at my reflection on the mirror. A seventeen years old girl with chest length jet-black hair, gray cold eyes and dried tears on my freckled cheeks.

I have been crying all night. I don't want to leave this house. My father decided to move in to another house. But I don't want to.

Because of my stubborness, he did the usual routine at me whenever I complain. Usual routine means to slap, scream, kick and punch me. My body is now immune to physical pain,
thanks to him. But I can't help but flinch whenever someone tries to touch me.

"Grace, I want to see your face down here in 30 minutes. Hurry up!"

My father yelled from the living room. 30 minutes means 3 minutes. It's now 3:00 am and my father decided to leave early because he wants to avoid traffic.

"Yes, dad. " I replied shortly.

I grab my concealer and put a little amount on my left cheek and neck to cover the bruises. I snatch my gray hoodie from my bed and put it on. It blends with my black ripped pants and black Adidas. I stared at my reflection for one last time, I look fine but it doesn't matter if I look good or not because I have no one to impress except my father.

"Grace!" My father bellows.

"Coming. " I said.

I put on my round glasses and tried to tame my uncombed hair. I am also a fan of Harry Potter, but the difference is he have a scar and I have bruises.

I sprinted downstairs while wearing a backpack and carrying a luggage. I packed all of my important possesions in here but I left some behind. Because I know one day, I'm coming back here.

My dad stares at me like a stranger but didn't say anything. He motions me to follow him outside and I followed him. He too carries some luggage. I managed to put my things on the trunk of his car without his help, because if I waited for him to volunteer and carry my things, the carrots may turn pink.

You may think my father is always bad, but atleast he gives me enough money to buy my wants and needs. He's not that wicked, you know. He also gave me an iPhone on my recent birthday which caused me to hug and kiss him on both cheek, and that was the last time that I saw him smile, a true smile.

He never smiled again ever since my mother left us. Why? Because my mother cheated on him. How come? Because my mother had enough. My father was always hurting her. At first, my mother thinks that it is just normal, like what the hell? Is it normal to hurt your wife every night when you're drunk and spending your money on casino? Is it normal to hurt your wife just because you got fired on your job? No.

My brother George stayed with my mother (they ran away in the middle of the night on my birthday, I was 15. I know, it hurts) and when my father found out that they were gone first thing in the morning, he screamed and cried and he was throwing things everywhere. I know my father loves my mother but I don't know what kind of love was that. Now, he found his favorite punching bag. Me.

Our travel is quiet. I'm just staring out the window, watching the city lights and the sunrise slowly stretching behind the tall buildings and skyscrapers. We lived in a small village 30 minutes away from the city. Now, we are taking the path through the city and I admit, I am quite interested in our new home.

"We are living on a house my new boss provided for us." My father said suddenly, making me shut my train of thoughts. "He said he don't need the house anymore because he has a new one in Florida."

"Why? I mean, why did your boss provided us a house?" I asked curiously, careful not to break the almost good mood.

"Because I did great on my job. You know that being a construction worker is not an easy job. I think I'm his favorite. " He said proudly.

"Uhm, congrats." I said looking at him. "Dad."

His expression soften but vanished so suddenly like a ghost. Did I just imagined it?

He cleared his throat. "We are here."

I gasped.
