Chapter 9

After they arrived at their house, Aira fell asleep even before packing her things. She was so exhausted that she slept on the floor.

She was walking along a fjord when she saw shadows of three people not so far away. As she was walking closer to the three shadows, the figure became more vivid although their faces were blurry. Decided not to find out who those shadows are, she just leaned against the railings of the bridge and felt the cold wind damping her face. "Aira?" she heard someone from the shadows called her, then the other two seemed to know her as well. They were about to come near her when she felt scared and ran away.

"Aira?"

"Aira?"

"Aira darling wake up"

She slowly opened her eye and saw her mom in front of her. It's just a dream.

"Dinner's ready, I'll help you unpack later. Okay?" he mom asked her.

"But mom, you and are always busy right? Why are you even here? You should be at the company"

"Things changed Aira, your dad told me that he'll be fine without me. But eventually I'll go back to the company when you can handle yourself."

"okay."

They went downstairs and ate dinner together. Aira wondered why Kei isn't home, but didn't bother to ask. Since her Mom told her to be more of an adult now since she's already 21, so asking those kinds of things is not necessarily needed, besides Kei is also a grown up man now. Aira will start home schooling next week, and her life will be as normal as everyone else's is, is what her mom told her. After dinner, they start unpacking Aira's things just as promised.

They're almost done unpacking when the phone of Aira's mom rings.

"Hello... is something wrong? ...what? ... Are you sure? I can't leave Aira alone" upon hearing that, she took her mother's hand and gave her an I'm-fine-by-myself look. She looks like she understands. "Okay, I'll be on my way" then call ended.

"I'm sorry dear, something just came up at work and I'm really needed there" Aira just gave her a reassuring-look that she'll be fine.

Within minutes, Aira was alone and finished unpacking. Being all alone in a very big house is boring and lonely, Aira thought when she remembered the notebook Mari gave her. She kept it in her hand bag beside her bed. It was a simple notebook with a black leather-like cover; the notebook doesn't look old or new. The first thing she saw upon opening the notebook was a letter written on the very first page.

Dear Aira,

By the time you have read this you're probably out of the hospital or on the way out. I guess you are also wondering 'who the hell is this Mari girl?' I'm just a nurse. Oh if you don't remember, we used to be best buds, so I hope I'll see you again soon. Drop by the hospital anytime you want 'kay? Anyways, I really want to let you know a very interesting but sad, more of a tragic, love story. So prepare your tears while reading this book. Someone inspired me I writing this story and since you always write stories, I hope you'll like this. If you have questions, you can always call this number 873******* but I will tell you when to call this since that person is always busy. But anyway,... I guess that's all.

Love,

Mari

There were a lot of questions forming inside Aira's head. But she didn't feel like reading, that's why she got out of the house and started walking without any destination.
