"Michael, can you hear me?"
"Hm?" The boy hummed.
Calum brought his hands up to massage his temples, letting out an exasperated sigh.
"Just because you can't see doesn't mean you can't hear!" The raven haired boy huffed.
"Sorry, bud. I didn't mean to be so blind to your feelings." Michael snickered, a small smirk resting on his lips.
Calum glared at the male, clearly not amused by his terrible pun.
"Asshole," he mumbled out to himself, running his fingers through his messy brown hair.
Michael saw this as another opportunity to make a joke.
"Look, mate, I'm sorry." He reached across the small table, feeling around until his hand landed on Calum's shoulder. "I just want us to see eye to eye." He said with a straight face before bursting out into a fit of giggles.
The librarian shot a warning look their way from her seat at the front desk.
Calum rolled his eyes, standing up and grabbing his friend's cane.
"You're being way too loud. We're leaving." He worked his way around the table, helping Michael out of his chair.
Michael, with Calum's help of course, stood up unsteadily.
He grabbed the dark blue cane from Calum's hands before he was lead out of the quiet library.
"You're so sweet to me, Cal." Michael said, sarcasm clear in his voice. Instead of responding, Calum put a hand on his back to help him stay balanced.
Right as they started to move, Michael's body collided with another, both of them ending up on the ground.
His bum hurt and he couldn't find his cane because it had flown out of his hand when he fell onto the hard concrete.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" Calum hissed, glaring at the stranger.
"I-I'm so sorry." The soft voice that Michael had never heard before trembled slightly.
"I wasn't watching where I was going."
"Obviously." Calum spat back quickly. It was clear by his tone of voice that he was angry.
Michael cleared his throat, still resting on the ground. "Um, I could use some help down here?" He mumbled as he sat up a bit.
Calum's attention was immediately redirected towards his friend. He took his hand, helping him up from the concrete, along with his cane that was only a few feet away from where he'd fallen.
The male gave Michael his cane back as he was brushing dirt off of his knees.
"Again, I'm really sorry. I should have been watching my steps." The stranger said nervously. From what Michael could tell, it was a boy.
In response, he simply nodded in the direction that the voice had come from before mumbling out a small "Let's go," to Calum.
"Do us all a favor and watch where you're going next time, yeah?" He said, not pleased with what had just happened, before leading Michael out of the parking lot.
The visually impaired boy elbowed him in the side as they got to the car. "You could've been kinder to him." He scoffed, adjusting his sunglasses.
He thought it was nice that Calum was protective over him but sometimes he just took it a little too far.
His friend shrugged lazily, a small smirk forming on his lips.
"You'll just have to overlook me. I can be pretty blind to other people's feelings sometimes."
