*knock knock*
Jack tells Mark to stay put while he answers the door. Then Mark hears a gasp, and peeks around the corner.
The ex.
Mark held himself back from tearing her apart because she hurt his love.
But that's when something unexpected happened.
She kissed Jack.
Mark felt tears and ran to the room and slammed the door, crying and sobbing. After all they had been through... This was their end?
Mark sobbed and sobbed. And finally the crying subsided as Mark realized something.
Maybe Jack was happy... And that's all Mark wanted. Jack's happiness.
What he didn't know: was that Jack didn't like the kiss. He didn't know that Jack shoved her away. And he didn't know that she unwillingly dragged him to her car to take him out for lunch, him trying to escape her hold.
He quickly packed his bags, seeing Jack gone, and left a note on the table.
Dearest Jack,
I love you, but you seemed happy with your ex so I don't want to interfere. Please have fun with her. You two... Seem... Great together? Ugh I'm going to miss you so much, but I only want your happiness.
Love Mark.
He exited Jack's place and called a cab to the airport.

Jack got home. He hated the entire day with his ex and got away as soon as possible. He was so excited to come home to Mark and fall into his warm, strong embrace.
He walked through the front door, and proclaimed loudly,"Honeyyyy, I'm homeeee!"
There was no answer.
Jack looked around in shock. He searched the house, yelling Mark's name, getting more and more frantic. It was only then that he noticed the note on the table.
Jack no longer had his happy ending.
Mark was not there.
